Hi All,

I have been thinking about Google Adwords as a prospecting tool for retail sales and distributors.

Many places on the internet say we should use this, but what is the difference between Marketing Hype and Fact?

Would be very interested to hear from others who have done this and their thoughts on the effectiveness.

I know a lot of people that have been successful using adword and things of that sort. The problem with that is that it can get very expensive. So if you don't have a lot of money to put into advertising I wouldn't recommend it for now. There are plenty of way to get free leads online without having to pay for advertising.

There are cheaper PPC programs out there - like Kanoodle. Many keyword bids there are between 1 and 5 cents. The downside is the traffic may not convert as well so there is a trade-off. That being said many people swear by cheaper PPC. Even Yahoo has a PPC program. It's more expensive than Kanoodle but still less than Adwords.

We have been burned several times by Google Adwords. I have had much success with Google Adsense...but as far as Adwords goes..if you don't have very deep pockets it is quite hard to make it worth it. Have you ever tried it before?

Hi Aspire,

MarkTech is right, there are many companies that offer PPC besides Google.

Here's the deal with any PPC campaign:

1. Set a daily cap so your campaign money lasts x number of days.

2. Set a general cap so that the PPC company (such as Google, Microsoft, Kanoodle, etc) won't hit you with a bill the will make your jaw drop to the ground and shatter.

3. More importantly than 1 & 2: Know what you are doing by reading everything you can get your hands on regarding PPC and planning PPC campaigns.

PPC is excellent for driving traffic if you know what you are doing and you set caps.

PPC can be your worst enemy if you don't know what you are doing and fail to set caps.

Best of luck.

google adwords does work and can be very effective

the biggest thing is you need to manage it - its not something you can set up and check in a week to see how its doing

in the long run - it is cheaper than most other forms of traditional advertising

PPC is effective if you monitor your ROI closely

One of the key ways to get cheaper clicks is to use very specific keywords. You don't want to use general terms such as "home business" or "work at home". Plus, the general terms are much more expensive. I've been taught by Jason Pearson on how to do PPC, he makes $240,000 per month, so I listen closely to what he tells me to do or not to do. He has videos that show you every step of PPC, it comes as part of my home based business. Hope that helps!
