It would great to share with each other what software list you urgent need

The Google Adwords Keyword Tool is a great one.

Also ColorMania is great when you are doing web design and need to match up colors.

Filezilla is great for FTPing.

Wordtracker offers a free version of its tool that I often use for keyword research. Granted you don't get all the benefits of the "paid" version but it does help.

I love audacity for recording mp3 files, which can be integrated with a Wordpress blog for example and Dropbox for sharing files with my JV partners and clients

Call me cheap if you want, but I use all of these FREE programs.
In fact, I started marketing on-line 15 years ago listing free programs.
Got me lots on non-paying traffic! LOL

OpenOffice.Org from Oracle. Speadsheets, databases, websites, slideshows, etc.
GIMP for banner making and other image editing tasks.
ColorPic for matching colors and getting code#
Easy Graphic Converter for resizing or watermarking images
CutePDF for making ebooks or just printing as a PDF file
SeaMonkey (like FireFox) for editing websites on the fly.
FileZilla for FTP and site management (changing file permissions, etc.)
AVG FREE anti-virus
Comodo Internet Security for firewall
SpyBot Search & Destroy for added privacy protection

There's plenty more free programs I use and most are better than paid versions.
What happens when your free trial is up on that Norton A/V? Crash!
Never choose the "trial" version no matter how enticing the ad.
I have been a tech long enough to know FREE is BETTER.

I love DivX because I am huge movie fan and love watching movies online. As far as business goes I use this program called Toggl and it allows me to track all of the time I spend on projects. It's a small file and it comes in real handy. I use a lot of free programs.

Wordpress.

I Have no programming skill at all, even basic HTML still confuses me. I am learning about CSS but its a slow process.

For complete programming newbies or stupid peopel like me, wordpress is the best. I can post what I want on my domains and if I can't do something then a plug-in does it for me.

I can add forms, adsense , videos and make changes in seconds.

I tried Joomla, droopal and a few others and just sat there crying after 2 days and I still couldn't work anything out.

So In case you hadn't guessed, I could not live without wordpress.

ODA

Definitely the Google Keyword Tool. Also Yahoo SiteExplorer and a little article rewriting tool called the Article Reviser (for rewriting my content - it parses all sentences and places a box below each one for you to rewrite the content to make it unique - great for when you need new ideas).

I have a new favorite my son just told me about, InkScape.
It's an SVG drawing program but so much more.
You can import other formats and embed them as SVG layers or links.
There are so many options for manipulating images it's amazing.
It has templates for banner ads and web pages among others.
Does shadows, lighting, and gradients plus a whole lot more.
You can export your creations into just about any format you want.
Works on Windows, Mac, or Linux. It's Open Source Software.
http://inkscape.org/
My new toy to keep me busy and creative, it's fun.
Used it for creating a brochure this morning.
Try it, you'll like it.

Another free one I found recently and love is PDF-Xchange Viewer
It allows you to EDIT and mark-up PDF documents.
It is free for commercial use which is rare for PDF editors.

There is a paid version but the free is powerful enough.
