Does anyone have any suggestion on how to build my downline. I have an awesome program, but I want to put my efforts where they will be best used. I don't want to waste my time on tons of different things, I want to know what's best...e-mails, banner exchanges, traffic exchanges, google...??

What has made you successful??

Lisa,

I tried over 30 homes businesses before I found one that really worked.... so I feel like I can speak with some experience

I don't regret the other 30 business I failed at, though, because I learned alot along the way. One thing I learned is that most of the advice out there didn't work for me. I realized that all the scripts in the world weren't the solution. All the new-fangled marketing ideas weren't the answer. What finally made me successful was understanding people and understanding the process.

If you want marketing ideas, I can certainly give you that... I've done almost everything out there! (lol) Purchasing leads can be very cost effective when you are first getting started. Print advertising is a little trickier, and you really have to know what you're doing to get the most bang for your buck. Print advertising, including internet ads, can eat you alive if you aren't careful.

The best lead is the one that COMES TO YOU. So one thing you need to focus on is getting yourself permanently listed in the search engines where people can find YOU. I know of some great free resources and tutorials that can teach you everything you need to know to show up on the search engines within 72 hours. Don't pay to get yourself listed... it's a waste of money... it's better to learn the skill yourself.

But the biggest nugget I could offer you to help you achieve real success is to seek first to "Know Thyself", and then never focus on yourself again. EVER. Get the proverbial dollar signs wiped out of your eyes and concentrate on helping other people. The secret is in focusing on others, and meeting their needs.

Marketing methods are great... but all the marketing in world won't help if you aren't prepared to talk to them *the right way* when you get them on the phone.

There are some great mentors out there that I have learned from and I would be happy to pass their info along. Just let me know. There are also some sales trainers out there with outdated info that simply doesn't work anymore, and I would tel you to be careful who you choose to follow.

I wish you all the best success in your business!

Stephanie, Would you mind sharing some of those resources/tutorials with us? I have been working on that, but the more I learn the better!

This is the first business I have tried to do from home, so far it's going great! I just want to make sure it stays that way

I also totally agree that it is all in how you talk with people. When I started I made the mistake of making everything about me, without even realizing it! I was trying to sell instead of trying to help. I have to say that Dani Johnson's training has been helping me immensely with that.

I hope that helps!

Lora

Can I post a link like that? I wasn't sure I could.... But I guess Vishal will remove it if it's not ok, right?

I don't have any affiliation with this site... except that I have used the tutorial and it works. Plus, the guy has a lot of integrity. He doesn't even charge for the information. He simply says that if you feel it was valuable to donate something through Paypal. It's just a honor system.

Now... fair warning....it's going to be 2-3 days of solid studying... you will feel like you are cramming for finals in college...lol...it might make your brain hurt. But it is worth it. My best advice is don't skip ahead. Do each step as he tells you to do it.

Hope that helps!

Hi Stephanie! I'm against only affiliate and self-promotional links. I really appreciate members posting useful links like you did

Hi Lisa,

selfpromotion.com is an excellent site which offers good advice regarding search engines. You will come to know about all the major search engines and indexes. You can try it free for some time. If you become a paid member you can automate the task of submitting to search engines. I have seen results by using this site. I can strongly recommend it. It does not cost you as much as other services which help in submitting to search engines.
