I love Squidoo and have made quite a few lenses. However, it is very difficult to earn full time income with it, although some lensmasters are.
Where you can make more money with Squidoo is by promoting Amazon products or Ebay. It's actually a very good site for marketing Amazon.
Some people sell products on Zazzle and you can sell them on Squidoo as well.
So from my experience at least, the best way to make money with Squidoo is to market Amazon products.
