Hello from the mile high city! I have compiled a list of important things to remember and steps to take to guarantee success as an affiliate marketer.

Your Keys To Success:

1. Get your website and affiliate links out and about on the web in as many places as possible, in as many forms as possible. The more people reading your articles, blogs, etc., the more traffic you get to your site; simple as that.

2. Make sure your posts are of high quality and are truly useful to others; establish lasting trust in targeted communities.

3. Choose the right places to put out your material. A high volume of articles does not guarantee success. Pursue listings such as ezinearticles.com, squidoo.com, and others that are known to be preferred by top search engines, especially google.

4. Do your research!!! A little effort in the beginning goes a long way, and the more you know about what and where to market, the better. Even the 'gurus' are always learning and adapting to the latest techniques and tools.

5. Be wary of hype and scams. No one wants to drain their account trying to find industry 'secrets'. Hint: There are no secrets on the internet! If you searched for it with a major search engine and quickly clicked through to 'revealed secrets', then they are obviously not secrets!! Anyone with an internet connection has access to them.

6. If you are just starting out, find a down-to-earth mentor to guide you and run with it! Take as much advise from your mentor as you can, and don't give up! Most people do...

I hope these success tips are useful and I'll add more in the future as they come to me

PLEASE RESPOND WITH YOUR OWN TIPS AND SUCCESS STORIES
I love hearing your feedback!

Thank you thank you

Hello from the mile high city

Where's that at?

As far as tips - my main one would be to decide right from the get go that you will always be willing to learn new things and that when things get too overwhelming, know that there are many friendly folks here that will lend a helping hand...

Doesn't get more wild than that haha!

So it seems like you know what you're doing with affiliate marketing... Has it been a worthwhile venture to you? I see everyone giving up around me

I look forward to your input and inspiration

Yes. A honest mentor is very important. You don't want to have a mentor that lies to you.

It has - I have done a variety of things online and it is my absolute favorite thing to do.

It does not happen overnight but at least you are not sticking money into leads, and advertising all the time like I was when I was doing network marketing!

And the absolutely most fabulously beautiful part about affiliate marketing is that I can do it at any hour of the day and the money can show up in my clickbank at any hour of the day... without having to make people contact..lol

Hah I hear you on that!
I spend a great deal of time online when I'm not working or anything, so I figure it's great that I can be doing something worthwhile instead of wasting time with games, etc.

Is it realistic to think of home-based business as a full time job or even a career? Or is it typically only possible as supplemental income?
I love hearing real success stories from real people, so forums seem like a great tool to get around most of the scams and in your face hype that's made itself meaningless.

I would say supplemental for a good while till you get things built up - remember, only a small percentage of folks keep at it till they get it 'built up'...

I have found affiliate marketing works very well when you combine it is with use value. In other words, you can give away valuable information to help people in their businesses. Once they opt in to your list you continue to provide free value and also your affiliates. This is a win win because if you are providing enough value the people on your list will buy from you over and over again.

By the way Tasha, your website is very well done. Same to you, Montanamom5, I really enjoy reading through your info and I certainly hope to be in a similar position at some point in the future!

I look forward to keeping in touch.

Thanks again!
Lars

I think the reason so many people ive up soon after signing up, is because they are expecting to see instant rewards and that is just not possible. It takes some time to build it up and also alot of time to learn especially for the beginners.

Determination to learn and patience is the key to affiliate marketing as a beginer

You're very welcome pplrulz I promise to pass on any info to you guys that I find useful and that has proven successful for me.

Exactly what I'm finding.

Its truly surprising the quality of information and the amount of links you have to get out there to even make your first dollar. But it's addicting!

ditto on the "instant" results thing! even the easiest of programs require some sort of effort to be put in!

I say- don't be a fence sitter! Why sit around and watch all of these people with all of this great advice when you can take their advice and jump on the bandwagon!

It's just sad that so many people out there are making a fortune off of so called "effective" advertising. Does anyone of some good sites where placing ads is effective?

I have a hole downline of fence sitters. I just am not sure how to get them motivated! Ive got a easy program and have showed them exactly how to promote it in the free way I have even set up a incentive program for when they get there 10 referals through instant massive cash flow or 20 through eprospectfinder ill refund their initial fees. 15.00 for the one 70 for the other. Thats extra cash for them for free i wish someone would offer that to me, but they didnt get rich overnight so i guess its not worth trying at all. All they need to do is dedicate some time all the info is out there im not sure how much easier forums and sites could make it for them without doing it for them!

I personally am really struggling to make progress. I know what I have to do, I am trying to do it, but not getting, well anything. I am not sure if my website is just screwed up, I am not persuasive enough or if the economy is so bad right now that people can't afford to so much as try a program. I am going to stick with it, but do wonder, has anyone who has been doing this for awhile seen a significant reduction in sales since the economy headed south?

Sigh, back to work I guess, new article to write, new squido to make and a bunch of forums to visit. I hope I see something happen soon, but at least I have a potential job with the census bureau which should at least keep the bills payed.

I totally agree! It's as simple as persistence. Forums and other places with legit info are so easy come by that it's difficult to fall into a scam if you do a tiny amount of research first. Once you find something you know is worth sticking with, just do it!

I'm sorry to hear your struggles Gus... honestly I wanted to vent the exact same tribulations a few short weeks ago. Make sure to focus on producing quality writing material. You've already found the right places to market your articles and sites. Just work on tweaking your content to make your readers comfortable with your information and excited about following your links. It's an on-going process from what I read, but the real fun starts when it actually works and you get results! If you take anything from this thread, it should be DON'T GIVE UP!!
Sounds like you're still optimistic, so keep plugging away and come back to us for help

Have fun out there everyone.... best of luck to you!
