You can write articles and submit them to article directories such as EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com. These do not cost a thing to join. You can also post in forums related to your niche, and create blogs with quality content. Once these things get indexed in Google, you will have lots of links back to your original site, product, or service.

Create some Squidoo lenses and hubpages! Not only do they rank well in the search engines, but they may also bring you some extra cash through the ads that run on the page.
Squidoo profit shares the ad earnings and the hubpages ads pay you 100% for the income off the ads on your page (you'll need an adsense account though).

Article marketing is great and it's very inexpensive. However, there is one thing you absolutely must have even if it cost money and that is a tracking system. You must know at all times where you are getting your customers and distributors. There is nothing more important than knowing where you business is coming from and a tracking system will always tell you. Everything you do to get customers and distributors must be tracked.

I second article marketing it's the best use of your time if you can write fairly well and your resource box is compelling them to take action. Good luck. Sonni

Hi Andrew,
As you can tell by the replies so far, what you are NOT looking for is a way to advertise yourself or your business.
Sounds crazy, but it's been proven time and time again by those making serious money online that demonstrating your expertise in your niche and providing anyone who's interested with free, quality information is the way forward.
Always build relationships first, then when they learn to trust your expertise they will be open to the possiblity of paying for further information or products from you.
Articles and Squidoo are a great place to start, as you've read. I also recommend leveraging the bio information on Facebook, Twitter, and a few other social sites. Build relationships, and make your products/services visible. Never sell or spam.
Hope this helps!

Hi Andrew,
I agree with the others in that free sites such as Squidoo, Hub Pages, etc are good starting points.
Before you do that the first step is to make sure you have a few online marketing fundamentals down. Try the free 30 Day Challenge here:

Social networking can also be effective in getting free traffic but don't immediately start selling to everyone once you join. Build relationships and trust first and you will find people approaching you about your product or service.

Write a quality article(doen't have to be professional)
Show your efforts on your article. You may write 1 article everyday,
You could write more than 1 article but, if you don't miss single day writing article, you are going to have 365 articles on search engine, and last forever.~~^^
So, Write a good article I highly recommend link website address, and keywords shown up several times in articles.
GOOD LUCK

Hey there. I was just recently introduced to twitter and I am slowly trying to learn it for my business. So does it actually work fast for advertising?

See, there are lot of classifieds out here. You can easily use them to advertise, but the conversion rate will be very much low.

Great advice everyone, articles are great... classifieds are great.. but you can also put up signs and posters or even had out flyers.. sometimes offline marketing is good also depending on your niche.

I agree with the responses that point you in the direction of free resources such as Squidoo lenses, articles and blogs. You can link them together in creative ways and lay the foundation for a traffic generating system that you can build on eventually.

WOW, this is great advise. I am a newbie also and have never heard of some of these sites. I am a member of facebook and twitter but I am not sure how to draw interest to my twitter. Are there any books or articles that will lay this stuff out for me?
