So I wrote an article a few days ago and send it to my email list. If you are using Getresponse, then you you know that you can get 1-3 people complaining about you and your email to them in every single email broadcast.

Everyone gets that.

But I sent an article that I wrote and it seems to me that it has offended some people because I had like 15-20 complaints about this article that I wrote.

Can some of you read my article and see how it offends you in anyway. If it doesn't offend you then that's great too. Your comments are welcome here.

Here is the article I sent to my list:

Thank you,

Tal

Tal,

I wouldn't say the e-mail per se offended me
but all of the other advertising you had on their
was just screaming at me and I don't like to be
screamed at.

It was way too busy and I would have a problem
with getting e-malis like that from a list I was
subscribed to.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you were looking for.

Hi Becky,

Every article is like that and that is not the reason.

your page started off good with the baby smiles and such, and I would have to see other articles that you have written to compare, but off the top of my head i would say that your topic is inappropriate.

first, i wouldn't lead with a negative story. not on a sign up page at least, and not unless you were trying to get their blood boiling, you dig?

second, and most important, all bodily excretions, with the exception of tears, generaly illicit a reaction of disgust in people. [see kitschmag, 'Disgust Discussed'] and as such, i don't recommend them as topics for ANY advertising.

i hope that helped.

I don't see any problem with the article. In fact, I thought that it was a breath of fresh air - LOL!

Seriously, I got what you were saying and don't understand why the complaints arrived in higher numbers than usual.

I would politely ask to be removed from the mailing list.

I think the analogy to the stinkin diaper is a bit humorous. Maybe some people did not read the entire email to find out why you compared the diaper to all the opportunities being offered. Anyway, that being said, the adverts are very distracting and maybe that is why they didn't get thru the article?
Cheers,

It's not necessarily offensive but it doesn't add any value to anything, so I would probably unsubscribe as well.

I like if writers share something of value that I can USE in my online experience - it is easier for me to trust that the other stuff on the website has value as well, for some reason, but then that's just me.

I understand the parallel you were attempting to make between the smelly diaper and bad online opportunities, but there was one glaring difference: a smelly diaper is universally disgusting, whereas, an overhyped, bad opportunity is usually structured to have universal appeal.

We all know what we'll find in a smelly diaper, but we can't be quite sure what we'll get with a hyped-up opportunity. It's only after we've taken off the wrapper that we learn whether or not it's a pile of crap.

I thought the title was a bit sensational, which is not a bad thing, since it made me curious to read more. After reading the article, a title like "What a Stinkin' Baby Diaper Taught Me About Marketing" would have created similar interest, along with the promise to learn something new, all without being sensational.

I wasn't offended by the article per se, but the centered format was cumbersome to read. A left-aligned format would have been much easier to go through.

Well,

I was to compare the 2 and hoped that it did some good but I see from the posts here that some liked it and some of you thought that it was too much.

I think that my point was not understood from this. Maybe I should have done something else and compared the bad opportunities to something else.

Oh well, you can't satisfy everyone.

I really appreciate everyone's comments here.
