easy money: I agree.
Freedom: You provide valuable content to your visitors as you would with any website. If you'd like to drive traffic from a social networking site to a main site, you create a link on the social site.

I like to social bookmark my blog posts, using onlywire.com as well as Stumbleupon, Digg, Propeller, and a few others. I get good traffic from this as well as search engine bait, which ranks me high for the key words I target in the blog articles themselves.

Social networking is not only a good source of traffic but it also a great way to pickup of useful information. I have yet to use myspace or facebook but I plan to do so.

I like using social networking. It's definitely not one of my faves though. I like using it as a tool to let my customers know who I am.

Hi
I DON'T like social networking for reasons I won't go into here, but I know that any visitors one gets from such sites are realy what I call "curiosity visitors". They certainly aren't targeted visitors which is what you need to succeed in any Internet business.
How about getting you own visitors by giving away an ebook or e-report to attract visitors and its a fairly easy thing to do. If you want more information about attracting people read my bio.

rockfist,
Is there a chance that you are confusing social networking and a subset of social networking known as social book marking?
Social networking is a superset of social bookmarking and it includes other types of web 2.0 platforms such as blogs, Hub Pages, and Squidoo lenses.
I'm not sure why you would think that traffic sent from the latter would be considered as "curiosity visitors". Perhaps this has been your own experience so I won't necessarily argue the point since you may have seen it with your own eyes.
On the other hand, I sometimes use web 2.0 sites as starting points for research. Personally, I have been able to build quite a bit of authority with my web 2.0 sites. I use some of them to link to my main sites and I do get paying visitors as a result.
I'm guessing that you were talking about social book marking but I may be mistaken.

I am also doing the same.
