Hi.. I've noticed like most marketers how much traffic a social bookmarking website can bring if by chance your submission makes it to front page. For example with Digg, newbies come in promoting their business and are disappointed to find at the end of the day their strategy has brought them 1-3 Diggs. I have developed a strategy to gain more rank, but what' your strategy? Have any of your submissions on social bookmarking sites produced lots of traffic to your work-at-home business?
Post Your Strategy On How You Produced A Lot of Traffic Through Social Bookmarking Sites.

You can get some traffic using stumble upon, but it does not convert very well

I've noticed the same thing about Stumble Upon. The clicks I get from there are a small amount and 90% of the time the person immediately exits the page. I have had better success with Reddit and Digg.

I submit to onlywire & socialmarker. So far the result is not bad. I do get quite a number of visitors as compared to last month

Another good one is putting an addthis.com button on your site or blog...people can add your posts to the service of their choosing!

A lot of people use social bookmarking sites to build backlinks and improve their rankings in the search engines (thus increasing their traffic), rather then getting actual traffic from the social bookmarking site itself - just thought I'd point that out.

Good point, Grip. Social bookmarking sites are an excellent way to build a back link archive. Lots of good backlinks actually can boost the page rank of your main site. Just a tip, you can check how many back links you have in an search engine by typing in "myexamplesite.com". Just leave off the "www."

I agree!
But I do admit I like the challenge. Its nice to be able to come to this forum and receive help though. I have learned alot from everyone here and its the only way I know to keep on top of everything new.
Thanks all for the advice!

I have a WordPress plugin in with various bookmarks on it. I usually bookmark thru OnlyWire.com and then also bookmark to Digg, Stumbleupon, Propeller, Google, Yahoo, Windows, and Reddit. This gets me 25+ bookmarks pretty quickly.

How does social bookmarking fit in with this, and how does one go about it? I am not a newbie to MLM but i AM a novice when it comes to some of the tricks of the "online game," like social bookmarking. I would not mind at all being tutored by some of you experts!

De La Mente,
You mentioned that you have a strategy to rank high on the social book marking sites. Care to share that with the forum members?

Indeed I do, Shield. But before anyone goes out to advertise on social bookmarking sites, you must understand that these sites, referring to sites like Digg and Twitter that allow you build a friend network, are based on networking. If you run in blasting your ads that link to your site, chances are it will get little to no attention, it will be ignored and burried with the thousands of other ads of people that came in before you trying to do the exact same thing. There's no real secret to this. It is time consuming. On these sites, the key is to be a real person.. who just happens to own a business. I'll use Digg as an example because I'm most experienced with it. You want to digg recent and unique news articles. Digg things that people will want to read. Everyday, I'd add about 100 friends until you've built a good network. People on Digg love attention. They all want each of their submissions on the front page, take this into consideration. Digg their articles, leave comments, take the time to read the ones you find interesting to leave a comment they will appreciate. Digg users will often spam your page with shouts to get Diggs. Digg Veterans or Power users don't do this. They opperate differently. You want to try to build relationships with these people. You may often see DiggVets bragging on their success in becoming friends with Blogger Mark Cuban, DiggVet and owner of the Dallas Mavericks. When you're established, DiggVets may check out your page and add you. As a result, hundreds of Digg newbs will follow. Add them all back. Mutual friends are necessary. Digg newbs envy the vets and just because you are a mutual friend, they will Digg your submissions. Once all this is done, you can submit every last one of your ads if you choose. Click share it, Shout to all, and give a short description and ask to Digg. If you did the above, you should get 100-200 Diggs in less than 24 hours, which will get you on the front page (depending on the day). Then if it makes to the front, you may find your link on popurl.com and jimmyr.com where can expect 2-3,000 unique hits for each day it's up. This whole process can be done in 2 weeks or 3 months, it depends on your time and output. Remember: Social Bookmarking sites are not designed for advertising, it is designed for people as a resource for people to read interesting things on the Internet. As a marketer, if you can blend in, you can capitalize.

De La Mente,
That is the one of the best explanations on "how to" I have seen in a while . Thank you for spending the time to explain it all.
It sounds like a lot of work, but for even 10% of those hits it is well worth it.

De La Mente,
Good points and that's been my observation. Folks think they can just blast page after page from their own site. While it works good for SE bait, it doesn't help with much else. As you mentioned, you have to take the time to build respect, "authority", and connections.
I always eyeball the top posters and figure out how to get on their good side.
Nice one
