Hi,

I think video is a great way to go.

You might not want to put yourself on screen but you might want to do a video review.

Now, I use Camtasia for this but at $299 it sure ain't cheap.

So, I thought I'd have a dig around for an alternative.

And boy did I hit the jackpot! It's called 'Freez Screen Video
Capture' and it's free! Yep, FREE!!

Just click the link below which takes you to the Small Video Soft
website.

http://www.smallvideosoft.com/

Download 'Freez Screen Video Capture' and away you go.

I've only had a quick play with it but it does the job and saves
your recordings as .avi files. Then just upload them to YouTube and
then add them to your blog or site.

Note: You will need a mic to record sound but you can get those real
cheap. Chances are you have one already. If so great!

Have a play with it, video reviews are really, really powerful IMO.

This Web 2.0 stuff is great fun! There's some examples on my blog.

Hi,

Yeah, I'm aware of camstudio and that's cool as well.

I don't think it matters which one you try as long as you try it. And it's always best to start off with a free program. Let's you see the potential and then if you are comfortable with the medium you can take the plunge and invest in something like Camtasia.

The world is not for PC's alone. Mac users have a number of choice such as Screen Mimic, iShowU and Snapz Pro. The built in iMovie software does a great job in editing and cleaning up as does Garageband in fine tuning the audio.

Video is good if most visitors have a high speed internet connection

That's a fair point. But the ones who are likely to buy your promotions will almost certainly have it. So in a way it's another way of cutting down unwanted traffic.

I have thought about video but never used it yet. The secret is to come up with a highly usable video, that will be passed on virally. But from what I have heard it does pull if implemented the right way.

I would say youtube is a great way to market, With a few clicks, you reach millions of people. There are also some video email systems that are out there, you can find them on google, that can help you out as well.

As youtube are getting popular nowadays, you can brand yourself using video. A great way to do so.

Great point Cherie,

And don't forget other social bookmaking sites like Twitter and Facebook. An increasing number of IMers are using these to increase their web 'footprint'...

Some may appear a bit scattergun but you can target particular groups and build a list of relevant followers if you do it right.

I'm testing out both Twitter and Facebook at the moment and will report back when I have something more concrete to report.

I've been looking around for a decent and free program to use screen capture with my Mac. I've been fooling around with a program called Jing. It's cool but it doesn't let you save the files to your computer in a useable format.

I've been using video a lot lately and I've been building up my YouTube channel to make a name for myself. It does great things for my traffic and I've been able to brand myself and launch my own site because of it.

YouTube is great but don't forget there are tons of other video sites out there. I use a site called TubeMogul which allows me to upload to up to 22 other video sites simultaneously.

I can't use it but I found a resource to get my hands on a free version of Camtasia Studio as well, if anyone wants to PM me for it.

Use it and love it...

I get tons of free high quality traffic from videos I posted on sites like Youtube and Dailymotion...

They work for you 24/7 and they're free...

How can you go wrong?

ok folks, here is an idea, you took the time to write an article, so why not load your article into a online teleprompter and make a video out of the same article. you now get twice the effectiveness out of the same product.

Happy hunting
