I am just starting a wholesale/retail store and need to figure out how to get my products into local stores. But my daughter is 4 months old and goes everywhere with me. Does anyone have any tips on how to approach a store to carry my products and still be taken seriously with a baby on my hip?

Hi Cheryl,

I was asking myself this question this summer. My wife gave birth to a baby girl and at the same time she is a full time student with a full scholarship. She cannot stop now, so I decided to take a leave from my job. I used to chose my prospects to be females. I get well dressed as if I am going to my original job and take my daughter in the stroller with my catalogs neatly organized in my briefcase. Whatever they are doing they stop for a moment to play with my daughter. Even if they don't buy from me, I give them my business card and a bunch of fliers for whoever might be interested.

The reason I used to target female prospects is that most of the time only females appreciate babies.

So, get formally dressed, organize your display tools, and take your little cutie with you to your female prospects first. After you get started you wont worry about being taken seriously.

Good luck
