Work at Home Employment Benefits
Every job has its disadvantages, but as long as the benefits outweigh them, that’s what really counts. For some, working from home provides many employment benefits that couldn’t be taken advantage of in other job environments. What types of benefits?
Tax advantages - Using your home as your work environment opens you up to a number of tax benefits. The best advantage is the fact that working out of your home enables you to claim a percentage of home expenses including -
- Rent or mortgage payment
- Property taxes
- Utilities
- Insurance
You can also claim any other expenses related to you work including: computer, internet, phone, gas and insurance for your car (if you need it for you job), etc. To learn all the different tax advantages you have, it’s best to consult an accountant.
Financial benefits - Working from home allows you to save on a variety of expenses including:
- Office wear - You don’t need to dress up to work from home. You can work in your pajamas or a jog suit. This means not having to dish out money for expensive suits, shoes, etc.
- No commute - There is no daily commute which means far fewer car expenses and not having to purchase tickets for public transportation.
- No waiting for a promotion - you don’t need to hassle a boss about a raise or a promotion, you’re in charge of the amount of money you make. You have the power to change your earnings.
Personal freedom - You can now work when it is convenient for you. You can create your own schedules, and don’t have to live by the deadlines given to you by a boss. Furthermore, you can work in the comfort and convenience of your home, and can do your job at the time of the day that is best suited to you and your family.
Take advantage of the competition - Due to the fact that you can save on plenty of expenses, you have the advantage of using the money you save to increase your profitability. You can find out what your competitors charge for their products and services and offer your customers a lower price. Since most companies are forced to raise their prices when they are faced with more expenses, they don’t have the opportunity to provide their customers with lower fees without losing money. In addition, it is much easier for someone who owns a small business, or deals with fewer, clients to go above and beyond for their customers.
All of these benefits, plus the benefits of being able to spend more time with family, is what can make working from home an enjoyable and profitable venture.
