Home Based Business Ideas for Women
Today, more women than ever are thinking in terms of starting a home based business. A home based business offers the opportunity to earn a great income, without every leaving your home. It allows you to manage your time, set your own hours, take care of the family and give you more freedom. When choosing your new home based venture, make sure you don’t base your decision solely on the potential income. Instead, choose ideas that you would enjoy doing, or have a strong interest in learning and doing, because you’ll be spending a lot of time doing them. Here are some ideas:
If you are comfortable working with numbers, detail-oriented and organized, you can start an Accounting Business and work for businesses & individuals preparing their financial reports, accounts receivable/payable, payroll, tax planning and preparing financial forms. If you are a Certified Public Accountant, you can charge more for your work, as your level of education and expertise are higher. You’ll need a fax machine, copier and computer with spreadsheet, word processing and database software. An adding machine is also useful for tallying up receipts. You can set up a home office with all the necessary technology to run your business. And having a home based business is tax deductible.
If you enjoy sewing, you can put your talent to make sewing items or offer repair and alteration services. You can sew draperies, curtains, tablecloths, quilts, pillowcases and sheets, costumes, doll clothes, or make cloth labels for children’s clothing. You might want to design and sew original items such as tote bags for the beach, diaper bags, overnight duffle bags, or infant and kid’s clothing. Word of mouth will get you a ton of business! There are a lot of potential to create a home based business for women as women sometimes have more knowledge on more practical things.
If you love crafting, you can turn it into a business opportunity. Until recently crafts were usually sold locally or, at best, regionally. Now, thanks to the worldwide web, you literally have the whole world at your fingertips!
If you have taken classes in cake decorating and design, and you have a talent for your creations, you might start offering your cake decorating and design service to your friends and neighbors. Word of mouth will travel quickly, so make sure you know your stuff before taking any paying jobs! Much of your business will come from past customer referrals, and people who were at the event and saw your beautiful and original creation there.
If you are a trained dance instructor, or have a lot of dance experience, you can start your own dance instruction service. Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Tumbling, Twirling are all dance styles that are taught at dance studios. If you have solid experience in any or several dance styles, you can give private lessons in your home, provided you have adequate space.
If you are a freelance writer or editor, you can set up your own professional writing service. You can advertise your business through the internet or freelance sites. There are a lot of possibilities for women, you just have to be a little creative and use your skills and knowledge. If you want to be more knowledgeable on a particular field, you can take some courses. Some company offer online courses in just a couple of weeks. Once you have graduated from the course, you can start the process to open your business from home.
Being a women and having a home based business can be fun and challenging at the same time, but if you know what you are doing and have discipline, it can be very rewarding.
