There are some serious pitfalls in the 4-5 figure coaching programs. They all assume you have some basic skills... like copywriting, marketing saavy, and niche selection.

And, as mentioned, few if any of the actual instructors/coaches have a been-there-done-that resume of experience.

That said, their business development model for you is good. It's the execution that is risky because a lot depends on YOU.

I am in a $90/month coaching program now. A lot of it is automated but it does teach you EVERYTHING the high ticket programs teach... without the high price.

When it comes to internet marketing and online network marketing I totally recommend 2 guys that did an audio training a few years ago.

Their names are Terry Dean and Frank Garon. Their audio is called Network Marketing In the Internet Age.

That audio changed my internet business for the better and I totally recommend it.

Now, where to buy that course online? I am not too sure about that.

I'm doing a free online marketing coaching program tailored for the online tutoring business through the TutorFi.com website. It's an amazing education. I'm impressed with how much I've learned so far. Everyone should definitely look into their program before spending money. Respectfully, JoLynn Colbert

I must be very old fashion as I will not be pay that much for coaching. I rather spend it on advertising. I would not pay anyone, I will learn from my mistakes. There are books, so many free resources, free networking with like minded individuals, and one theory that rules everything, work hard and you will get there. I am not saying we do not learn from others, but I will not pay for the privilege.

I have tried quite a few coaching and mentoring programs some cheap some very expensive, I just found some them way to complicated for me to understand it was not till I found Chris Farrels site the price for his membership is really under priced for the content his site is loaded with step by step videos going through all aspects of marketing.

Chris is one amazing person and teacher his easy to understand even for me Ill be 62 next month if I can understand and be successfull online, he has shown me how to build a list use an autoresponder upload a website and lots more 3 months ago I could not do anything like that

Chris Farrell I honestly have never met but just from his videos you get the sense of his Honesty Integrity and passion for helping people become successfull in Online Buisness

Yeoch's ecperience sounds a bad one - I have never had that problem yet but I have been ripped off more subtly in other ways. I have taken part in a couple of coaching programs - neither have delivered what they promised in mentoring or support.

There is a lot of free information on the web - so many websites offer some free material to build their credibility and I think it really pays to absord as much of that as you can before taking up any mentoring program.

I think it makes much more sense to sort out your business idea as much as possible before trying to get any specialist mentoring. Don't be afraid to invest in ebooks and specialist tools - like keyword research tools because you will need what they provide and they often provide free training as part of the purchase.

Personally, I think you should save the mentoring until you really need it because from my experience you don't get what you think you signed up to, and you will more clearly understand the support you need.

From my experience many of the coaching programs offered can be very helpful, even life changing but you have to be wise about how you approach getting involved in these programs. Many of them are very costly and getting involved with the program doesn't guarantee your success. You have to make sure that you are committed to whatever topic you are receiving coaching for. I also recommend that you only purchase the program if you can actually afford to do so. Getting involved based on the money you plan to make in the future from what you'll be learning is not an approach that I would recommend. Unfortunately I have seen many people do this and suffer financially for it.

Although I'm still part time as an mlm'er, my main income is as a self employed driving instructor - and coaching the next big thing right now. Actually, it doesn't suit everyone as it's just another tool in the tool box ( or, another form of teaching ).

I think the advantage is you do get that one on one contact that you probably wouldn't get if you just joined up with as an affiliate with some companies ( as well as group contact ). Remember, not everyone is into nurturing their down lines - although they should be!

Quite honestly, it will be perfect for some but unnecessary for the more independent, confident types as they have away of grasping the knowledge they need anyway.

Horses for courses and all that.

Having said all that, I am seriously considering the one that my affiliate company have just introduced. The coaching courses are based on the products already within the company. I may well try one at the cheaper end first and then bump up if I think it's worth it.

I'll come back here with a report as to my progress, if I get chance to sign up in the next week or so. Quite honestly, I'm not sure I'll need it. I think it would suit newcomers to the industry very much, though, as this can be a lonely profession.

Hilary.

If you want to make money in Business (and that goes across the board). You need to hire a coach. Does tiger Woods have a coach? Does Lebron James have a coach? Of course they do. They have more than one coach. I paid this coach $2000 for four sessions and it was the best thing I did not so much for the coaching but the connections I was able to make. I know quite a few millionaire business people because of hiring a coach.

I've been getting those phone calls too. Have not fallen for any of them, though I have paid too much for coaching that didn't quite deliver the goods too...

I"m not going to name names.

There are a few excellent ways to learn the ropes though.

One of the most valuable ones for internet marketers is the Warrior Forum, specifically if you upgrade to the War Room level.

That War Room is filled with outstanding information, and it's all free!

Of course, there's also the Warrior Special Offer section, which offers hundreds and in fact thousands of tempting offers, so you can lose your shirt.

The quality of the offers varies, but there's a lot of good stuff.

Do I think it's a good idea to get a coach. Yes, if you can find a reasonably priced one. You might even want to pay for a few consultations with someone you trust, just to point you towards some good tools to get you started.

If you want to become a successful internet marketer, here are some of the things you need to get you started:

1) Figure out your niche
2) Decide on your business model (i.e., do you want to start with affiliate marketing or do you want to create/sell your own product, or something else)
3) Learn the ropes (set up squeeze page, autoresponder, and then either your own offer or get to an affiliate offer)
4) Get "traffic" to your page.

That's basically it in a nutshell. Of course, the devil is in the details!

Good luck!

Elisabeth

I paid a coach $1500.00 through the Omni.com program and have to say that the two hours worth of training did get me past the really tough process of learning keyword research and finding a niche.

But they did not provide me with the training they implied they were going to provide...and I didn't ever make much money at affiliate marketing (about $15.00 in 2 years).

At that time I was a newbie. Would I do it again? Actually right now I am considering a one year program for about $70.00 a month. This coach has provided several FREE webinars that I have learned a lot from...so yes I would do it again, on a limited basis.

Personally I havent had a "mentor" or coach as such but i do like to "socialise" with like minded people whether it be online or in person. In my local area there is group of internet marketers that get together and ideas and strategies are exchanged..all for FREE. I am also part of a private community of internet marketers that meets a couple of times a year . Personally I find this type of "mentoring"
invaluable.

Whether an expensive coaching/mentoring programme is worth it really depends on the individual.
Because absolutely all the information anybody could possibly need is available for free on the internet the real value of a structured mentoring programme is on helping with focus and motivation issues and perhaps saving a bit of time in finding informtion you might need. If you are lacking in focus and motivation then perhaps making a substantial investment in a good mentoring programme is the right choice for you.
I was lacking in focus (information overload) for a long time and finally joined a coaching program that had been giving me valuable free information for over a year. After joining my focus was considerably helped, I also found that a well run forum can be a great shortcut to finding information and answers thereby saving a lot of time.

Hi have to agree with the first bit of advice offered. Wealthy Affiliate offers great online coaching and one on one support. There is also a free course called the mad marketing method that allows you to learn the basics first before you take the plunge.
