Ok here is my 2cents, I hope I don't offend anyone.

My body is different from yours. My needs are different from yours. My physiology is different from yours. My metabolism is different from yours. These are undeniable facts.

You can easily expect that a "one size fits all" kind of nutritional supplement does not exist. The right way to get a suitable nutritional supplement that your body needs is to ask your doctor. There is no way around it unless you are a doctor yourself.

Now consider this scenario: You join a health and wellness MLM company. You try their supplements and you feel well (not necessarily that your body is really getting well, could be your mind telling you so). Then you start promoting this supplement to your friends and family, or to strangers online or on the phone, buy leads, advertise on newspapers and everywhere. You start making money, and become happy with the enhancement you made in the life of others.

After a couple of month you or one of your referred friends feel ill and after you check with a real doctor this time it turns out that your supplement wasn't for you. You realize that you did not enhance the life of everyone you referred to buy this supplement, instead you ruined some lives.

You feel guilty, and want to do something. Some of your referrals are happy with the supplement and the money they are making, but you know they might hurt someone else who wasn't supposed to get this particular supplement. You feel you are indirectly responsible for the harm.

At the same time you are making good money because your downline is excited about the new source of income they discovered and is promoting it hard.

You'll either live with the guilt and feel that your earnings are not blessed, or will put your consious in the fredge for now and go on with your life.

But it doesn't stop there. Some of the victims file law suites against the producer of the supplement. The producer is not stupid. On the supplement itself it is clearly stated that you should consult with your doctor before using this drug, and to keep it out of reach of children. It is also stated that the facts on the product are not confirmed or approved by FDA or whatever organization in the country of origin.

Guess who will be blamed now? Now this is serious. And since you are running this business from home under your own name, you are risking your earnings, your savings, all of your bank accounts, all of your spouses bank accounts, your cars, your house, your or your spouses jewerly ... every thing you own as a house hold.

Now should your or should you not get involved in health and wellness industry?

First, ask a lawyer and get to know what you should say or write, what you shouldn't say or wright, what you need to get your referrals to sign ... and so on.

Then think of a way to get your referrals to check with their doctors before they use your recommended supplement.

I personally have an experience with this respect. I bought a wellness product that is supposed to help me burn fat in the gym instead of carbs. I needed that because I have a fatty liver and I thought I can improve my liver status with reducing my total body fat.

The product is approved by all kinds of organizations you might think of, and the patent is registered for a team in one of the Canadian universities. Because I am a scientist and have contacts there I communicated with the product developer directly and understood how it works. For those who studied physiology before: it blocks glycolysis and forces Kreb's cycle to be fed with acety co-A from fatty acids metabolis. And this blocking is good for 2 hours.

I have a masters degree in physiology, and I know that the kind of blocking used in this product is reversilbe. But there is a chance that it doesn't get reversed and my metabolism stays longer that 2 hours buring fat and accumulating carbs in my blood. Carbs in the blood means more work for the pancreas to produce more insulin. If you are susceptible to diabetes you shouldn't put any kind of pressure on your insluin producing machine.

Anyway, I asked my liver specialist and explained my concerns about the product. You won't believe what he said to me:

"Don't use it and I guarantee your liver will live longer than you as it is". He also said that herbal supplements are dangerous for my liver. Then he referred me to an endocrinologist to discuss my insulin concerns with (which I didn't because I decided not to use the product).

Imagine if I don't have the connections with coleagus in that university, and had no degree in physiology (which is the case for the vast majority of the customers). I could be on the liver and pancreas transplant waiting lists now.

I think it is becoming more important in peoples lives. We all want to live longer and there are so many ways today to take advantage of this. It may take some of us longer than others but we all have that guilt feeling when we eat something that is not nutritional.

There is money, and a lot of it, in the wellness industry, but not for you, unless you are a doctor, a pharamacist, or a nutritionist. Other than those three categories you are risking everything you currently have.

Think again.

I'd agree with yahia's and some of the other more sobering posts on this industry.
Notice how the driving motivation seems to be making money, NOT truly helping folx to be healthy.

If you want to make money on this type of thing, you may as well also consider the weight loss industry.
A total scam, but lots of money to be made here as well.
Diet Coke anyone?

I suggest you do some research and learn about health and longevity.
All we need to be healthy has been put here on earth in natural form.
And we simply need to get OFF our butts and EXERCISE!

Just eat right and exercise.
That's really all there is to it!
Get some valid INFORMATION on those topics, and you'll do quite well.
And please don't participate in promoting these unproven, man-made scam products.

Also, you should consider and RESEARCH alternatives to medical therapy and surgery, which is definitly a 'double edged sword'.

Folx promote 'health and wellness' and 'weight loss' products out of ignorance and/or a desire to make money on (SCAM), the less informed.

Some individuals are sincere in their motivation, promoting such products, but these industries are mostly scams.

Agreed,

No doubt health is important, and as more of us learn about proper nutrition, it becomes obvious we have all been eating crap which is hurting the health of the masses, just look at the rise in diabetes, asthma, arthritis, never mind the more serious health issues which are also on the rise. Why, it all comes down to nutrition and our immune systems, or lack of which is the real problem. Everything revolves around our immune systems health, and as your immune system fails, so too will your health.

Having researched it all, sadly, as was mentioned, if you are in it for the money, not the health of it, then you will lose in the end, and why I won't waste my time on the next best weight loss scam. Bottom line, no pill or juice is going to help you with weight loss, and with thousands of them out there, we all know they don't work as promoted.

Natural health alternatives is where the future lies when it comes to supporting your immune system. It all starts with proper nutrition, yet how many people even know what this means. With so many choices, most choose the junk food, a real killer of your immune systems, never mind it being the reason most are overweight. Junk in, junk in your trunk. lol

How many drink diet sodas? Look around, I guarantee you that everyone you see who orders a diet coke or pepsi is not only overweight, but grossly overweight, why, because diet sodas actually make you fat, plain and simple, they increase your appetite while hardly eliminating any calories in comparison to your added intake of junk food. We have all known people who have drank diet colas for decades and they are all still overweight, so don't drink this poison, in fact, don't drink any soda for they all will impact your health, not only add weight. You need to get your pH in balance, and acidic sodas is not the way to do it.

Get your health back on track by researching proper nutrition first and foremost, stay away from white bread, sugar, high fructose corn syrup, start reading labels, eat organic foods, fresh vegetables, fish, not farm raised, but cold water variety are best, and I know most don't want to hear it, but stop wasting your money on vitamin pills and concentrate on products that enhance your bodies nutritional absorption, the real secret to good health. Most foods and vitamins pass through our systems with limited absorption of nutrients, and given most of the foods we eat are already deficient in nutritional value, this is compounding our health issues as the food we eat is nutritionally depleted compared to decades ago when over processed sugar pumped products were not the rage as they are now.

Simply put, learn the nutritional facts about what to eat and stop falling for the money traps selling all these useless juices with the hyped up ORAC levels which mean next to nothing when it comes to nutrition. Pay more attention to what you eat, not supplements is what I have learned and you will be amazed at the results you will realize. Switching to organic foods alone is a huge first step, then research which product will enhance your bodies absorption of nutrients and watch your immune system become optimized for maximum protection of your health.

I agree, especially with the changes coming we need to do everything we can to stay healthy.

I am also concerned the government will be trying to control nutritionals soon given the threat to big pharma. I hope they never stoop that low.

I have also found that restructured water will allow vitamins and supplements to be absorbed much more effectively.

Agreed,

Health and wellness is a huge industry, as is weight loss and pain relief, so I cover all the bases with a couple companies, so even when people cut back on nutritional products do to economic collapse, weight loss product sales never dip, even in a severe recession. The same is true with anti-aging products, they always seem to weather the storm when it comes to tough economic times. I have been researching recession proof businesses for years, and these are bulletproof.

While I feel health is, in most people, the most important consideration, I can't help but have a problem with the "Health and Wellness" industry.
To include weight loss.

Especially weight loss!

While I feel the actual proof and value of most H&W products is usually dubious at best, the proof of the value, or lack of value I should say, of the weight loss biz, is obvious.

Weight loss alone is a billion dollar + industry, yet look at the reality.
The WL industry is booming, (even in a recession!), yet Americans are just getting fatter and fatter, both in degree and numbers.

There's sumpin' squooie going on here wabbit!

Funny,

Yes, I agree, it is amazing that overweight issues are growing along with the new weight loss products, makes you wonder what is going on for sure. lol

Having tried almost every weight loss product trying to keep my weight from going out of control, I will have to agree, nothing has worked to date, and for good reason, turns out I have a thyroid issue, inactive one to say the least. Simply put, most people have thyroid issue, and sadly, they don't know it, just as I didn't.

Weight loss is taking a different direction, and it all starts at the thyroid gland amazingly enough. Most people have no clue about their iodine level, and since this feeds data to the thyroid, it is no wonder most diets do not work when your system is not working properly. Iodine deficiencies are a little understood issue, especially as we get older, so it is all about understanding over weight issues before you can reverse them.

There are new products which I have been learning about and am about to evaluate, so time will tell, but when you read all the research, there just may be a so called weight loss solution yet, time will tell.

I think everyone pretty much knows how big the health field is by the reported revenue of the industry every year. But anyone looking at it as a business venture had better consider 2 very important things.

First of all just the sheer size of the industry means lots and lots of competition which makes it very hard to get your slice of the pie. A Google search of "health and wellness" gets you over 8,000,000 results. You had better be niche specific in order to do much of anything.

Secondly, and probably even more important, you better do it to find ways to help people deal with their health or weight concerns. The money will come but only if you genuinely try to help people first.

That goes for any business. If you put the money first you are sure to fail.

Just my opinion of course.

Definately a good industry to build and I am taking the leap. This is very health conscious society we live in and everyone wants to stay young. Therefore it is no wonder the heslth and wellness industry is booming. If someone gets sick they do not think twice about going to the doctor so if we can sell them stuff that will prevent a doctor visit they will buy because no one really likes to get sick.

My opinion also.

Looking at the help wanted ads will tell you healthcare jobs are in demand
yet most of us here don't want to work 12 hour days in a hospital environment.
I spent 10 years in a MLM "nutritional" company with lots of attrition, and millionaires.
Recently I had a shoulder injury and tried a free ample of a topical pain killer.
It worked so well I had to order some to give to friends.
I was not looking to go into business with it since I have plenty of streams of income already.
All I wanted to do was share it with my daughters and a few friends in chronic pain so they could quit popping so many deadly pills.
It has become a better income stream than anything I tried to sell.
Help others first and follow your heart, not some "guru" out to make a buck off you.
