Unfortunately I've found out the hard way that being a college student isn't exactly... easy. With the economy being crap the only loan I could get was one where you pay the interest every month. So I'm desperate for some way of getting income. I found this site and I'm really interested in all of this. I don't where to start though, or what to do. I've done surveys before, but I don't really think that's the right direction. What else is there?

Welcome Rachel - what a lot of us do on here is what is called affiliate marketing and you can learn more about that by visiting the link here ---> What IS Affiliate Marketing??

Nothing is FAST money but if you can wrap your brains around it, it is a great way to have some additional income with time.

Start selling on ebay..this is one of the best opportunities. you own your own business. Ebay has done the hard work for you. eBay is a very big marketplace where anything can be bought or sold there.
I am the father of a family of 4. Few years ago, I was looking for ways to make money at home and I chose ebay to be my business. During my journey I lost some money, on some programs until I realised that selling on ebay is the best choice for me. This can be the best choice for you also

Yasser is absolutely right - I have made good money on Ebay for several years now, selling anything and everything....

The fastest way to make money online is via eBay. You can sell any item. And next is Blogging through adsense.

I also agree that eBay is a fast way to earn some money within a week. You have to be willing to go to the post office often.

Be sure your descriptions of your items are as specific as possible. You will need to have a PayPal account. If you're planning to do any endeavor on the internet, you'll want to get a PayPal account anyway.

eBay would be good training for you to work with customers and knowing when to lower and raise the price.

Another thing you can do is write articles for sites that ill give you upfront payment, i.e. anywhere from $3 to $25 per article. It depends on the site and it depends on the niche. You have to deal with editors and they are picky, but don't worry, just make the changes and keep at it. Writing for content sites is good practice for you to learn how to create content for larger endeavors like affiliate marketing.

I recommend you check out FreelanceHomeWriter.blogspot.com. A lot of good information on sites that pay you upfront, and sites that pay you residually through advertising revenue (i.e. if someone clicks on ads near your content, the site will share the revenue with you. This takes longer to gain money but keeps reaping benefits in the long-run).

A really good revenue sharing site to get started with is eHow where you write simple how to article. You'll earn pennies at first, but the more article you write, the more you can earn in revenue. As a freshman starting off in college, if you write one eHow article per day, imagine how much you can earn over the course of 4 years?

This is a good time for you to start. Balance out activities that will give you short-term money and long term money.

I don't recommend surveys for you if you're living in a college dorm sharing the same network IP address with everyone else in that dorm. Most survey sites only allow one account per IP address.

If you signed up to some survey site called "Surveys For College Students", how do you know that the guy down the hall hasn't signed up for an account with the same site. The Survey site might get worried and think this is fraud (Of course, I would hope such a survey site did a better job of planning). If you live in an apartment and pay for internet yourself, then this might not be an issue.

As for school loans, don't worry about it. I'm still having to pay back mine. All school loans whether they are Federal or Private collect interest. It's always been that way. That's how loan companies make money.

Between the two, I would rather pick the Federal because you interest rate will stay consistent. Private loans like Sallie Mae or any other for a while had the ability to jack up the interest rate any time they wanted. I think Obama's administration has put a stop to that, but if the Federal government is offering to pay for you school, why not?

You have 10 years to pay it off and the rate should not change. With a Federal loan, you will not have to worry about paying back any of your loan until 6 months after you graduate. But the monthly payments are affordable. I have to pay $265 a month.

Second thing about school loans, the loan amount that is taken out per year is just an estimate of your school cost that year. If you get good grades, don't fail your classes, don't use the lab as often as everyone else so your fees aren't as high as expected, you are supposed to get a refund every semester.

Check with your school bursar or finance office. If the school didn't use all the loan money for their fees, they are required to refund it to your bank account. You can either use that left over money for personal expenses, plane tickets, home, etc. or you can return it to the bank that loaned you the money. I say why not use the money for your needs. Invest it int your internet business or something. You're not required to pay any of that back until six months after you graduate.

Every month you'll get a statement of how much interest you accumulate, but you don't have to pay it until after you graduate. However, it would be smart to pay off as much interest as early as possible so that your bill is a couple thousand dollars cheaper by the time you graduate. Hopefully by then, you will have taken the time to build an internet business that gives you money when you graduate, then you won't have to worry about applying for a job.

I do recommend affiliate marketing in the long term. Learn what you can now without having to spend too much money. This is the time to do the research, then when you're ready proceed. You'll make mistakes. You'll get scammed. You'll get confused. But after a while you'll make it happen. It's all part of the learning process.

Good luck.
