I have an ezine article out there that get lots of views, but very little conversion. I would like to change the link to a domain name and off of the lens. If I pull the article and edit and resubmitt will it affect its rankings and is this a stupid or smart move. Someone help!

Hi Robin,

I don't think that changing the link will affect your rankings at all.

On the other hand, if you changed your title, that would be a bit risky.

It won't hurt to resubmit. Worst case scenario is they will say no.

Here is what I would do - don't change the actual page you are linking to, but change the wording of the link into a "benefit" statement - often, that will encourage more clickthroughs. Another thing you can do is use "bait", such as a free ebook of some kind to get them to visit your website.

Thanks, I can change it to a benefit statement, but hey I am still new. Have not reached the point of giving away a free ebook, would not know where to get one, unless I make it myself which I guess now that I think about it would be simple. Have not gotten my autoresponder up yet either, still figuring that out.

I have edited my articles quite a number of times.... without any problems...especially if I had to change the website link, or something...

Another thing you can do is have your article link to a page where they can sign up for a free monthly newsletter or something...

If it's on ezinearticles.com and if you edit the article, then you don't stand a chance of being listed in the "Most Viewed" and "Most Published" categories. If it's already listed, then it'll be removed.

Your article gets a lot of PR and traffic too from being listed in those categories. However, if you get significantly larger share of traffic from organic search results, then you may sacrifice that extra benefit.

Ok so now I am confused. I already pulled it, changed the link and resubmitted it. This article had 5 stars and I don't know what the stars mean. It did get a lot of traffic from search engines, so does that mean I just sacrifice that. Is it like it has to start all over, and will it not move up again. Someone help, I am confused.

Yikes is right! But then again, if it wasn't converting to sales have I sacrificed that much?

I don't think so... I had noticed that after I changed a link or something that it didn't seem to get as much traffic... but if they were not converting BEFORE the change, then what the heck, eh?!

We live and learn - that is why they say it is better to just try to rewrite an article than it is to edit..I think - lol

Well we will just consider this an experiment then, how about that. I will keep you posted on the results.

This article had 5 stars and I don't know what the stars mean.

Stars are votes given by users to your articles. I'm not sure if that'll be reset if you edit the article. And I also doubt if they contribute to your article's ranking within ezinearticles.com

It did get a lot of traffic from search engines, so does that mean I just sacrifice that.

You need to know if your article had been listed in the "Most Viewed" or "Most Published" categories. If it were, then probably you would have got a fair share of page views from those listings.

Is it like it has to start all over, and will it not move up again. Someone help, I am confused.

I would say don't bang your head over this. If the article is not converting, then there is no point in letting it stay even if it gets lots of page views. Other than an ego boost, it won't give you much. Just move ahead and plan your next article well.

You can find cheap or free ebooks with resell rights. You just need to google resell rights and look for one on the topic that you want. They are easy to find.

The stars will be reset if you edit your article. I had my for a long time on "Most Viewed" and it was removed the instant I changed a letter and all stars was reseted also.
It was my big mistake, and I never did it again.
