Hey All,

Im new here and new to working online altogether. I've read in a couple of other forums that a good way to earn some cash online is to start blogging. I've recently set up a few blogs and added adverts on them using Adsense but I just wondered what everyones views were on this? Is it really a good way to make money online or are there much better ways out there?

Thanks for any feedback. xx

Adsense is a way to monetize your blog - you should also monetize it with affiliate programs. Of course, you need traffic to do this...

Hi Ava,

Ads are one of many ways.

If you want it to work you have to drive a heck of a lot of traffic to your site.

Getagrip is right, your main play should be affiliate marketing.

Eventually you might create your own ebooks and try to attract sponsors.

You can also give list building a try once you know what you are doing. Some eventually try their hand at membership sites.

Lots of ways to monetize.

Learn all you can about keywords and the importance of where to place them, how to use them to get traffic to your blog, etc... because as getagrips said, you need tons of traffic.

Getting traffic to your blog is actually where most of your learning curve will be in.

Finding products to promote is easy.

And as you go along, use places like Squidoo along with your blogs...and with what NS shared above, in fact it is ENDLESS what you can do with a blog, if you are diligent enough to stick with it until it happens.

Yes you can make money with blogging and all the advice given here is right on target. I would add to this, that to help create and maintain traffic on your blog, keep adding good relevant useful content that readers will keep coming back for and tell their friends about.

It is possible to make money with blogging, however you will have to do your home work well. You need to make sure you are writing something that would have visitors visiting your blog time and again. Also, a special work for traffic is required.

At the risk of repeating myself - Yaro Starak and Rob Benwell are two people who have proved that it is possible to make money blogging.

There are however tricks to it - correct product to promote, choosing the right keywords etc.

Both of them offer free mini-courses which can get you started in no time .... however, it will take time before you do start seeing the money come in (but that's with any online system)

The great thing about blogs is their flexibility.

They can draw a lot of traffic (when done right) like a website because posts are made up of words that are your content. The more posts you have, the more likely you can improve your ranking.

You also have to link to relevant authority sites to help improve your ranking. This is called gaining backlinks. Despite all the hooplah over page rank, backlinking to a relevant site is more important from Google's point of view. Relevancy in general is more important from Google's point of view.

For blogs, you need traffic to your site. You've got to have content that's entertaining or valuable enough for people to come back and look at over and over again.

When you have a lot of traffic, you're likely to get more income. You can monetize your blog by putting Ads on it (Adsense, Chitika, Adbrite, Bidvertiser, Kontera, etc) or you can do affiliate marketing with it which can get you more money.

A lot of it depends on the popularity of your niche market and if you can make money from it. You might have the greatest blog on Philosophical debate, but can you cash in on it?

Things to consider.

Have you guys hear from plentyoffish.com

Well, this guy is making more than a decent money out of adsense.

A lot of traffic + adsense = a lot of revenue
