Not to be rude, but while I'm a huge advocate of working from home and it may be something you may want to pursue in the future, if you're looking for something that's going to be slightly faster with income, go with your instincts about a Ironing service. Working online is rewarding, and profitable in the long run and as many of you mentioned, its the way of the future. But it does take a bit of work to get started, and the results are not instantaneous. From the sound of your post, you need something more fee for services rendered.
Maybe try to fuse the two. You definitely want a company website, even you're going to stay local. The concept of networking is the same. Start by branching out and reaching out to local businesses online. If you strike up relationships with other businesses who have there own websites, it could help build your rep and also create valuable backlinks.
Be friendly and keep an open mind. People will present you with surprising opportunities if you put yourself out there to receive them.
