Been in the arena now for about 2 1/2 months and the one thing that I realized is that there are a lot of home opps out there, but only a select few that actually provide the right vehicle. In other words, you must have a Great Mentor to teach you how to do what they are doing and to be as successful as them. You can't learn how to make a million dollars from a chicken. Another thing that is extremely important is the team support. If everyone around you wants to help you become successful then your odds a greater that you will be. The training and materials you need to make your business grow must be top notch, available, and ever growing. You need to know how to do what your doing, how to sell the product or service, who to market, and how to attract the right buyer. All these things are KEY elements in making a decision on what company to choose. When you have all these things in place then your in the right place at the right time! Hope this helps, take care and GOD Bless.

Hello everyone,

This is a great thread.

We really should define the word scam. It is thrown around so much and I think everyone has a different definition. If you join a company and do not make any income from that opportunity, does that make it a scam? I know business owners who bought franchises that went out of business. Would that be considered a scam?

I really think some companies deserve the title of "scam". If they promise you overnight riches than they are probably a "scam". But for the most part, companies get a bad reputaion because someone joined and did nothing, made no money, and then accuse that opportunity of being a "scam".

Here is a good rule to keep in mind:

Most people want to get things 1)Cheap 2)Quick and 3)Easy

The truth is that you can pick any two of those you want but you will always sacrifice the third.

I agree with Bill. It's widely understood that most people are not cut out to own their own business.

Someone comes home from work one day. He's been an "employee" for 30+ years. He had a lousy day, big fight with the boss. All of a sudden, he "thinks" he wants to open a business, based on his lousy day and lousy boss.

He finds an online opportunity, gets in, and, after a month of very little effort, passion, and determination on his part, decides that the company is bad: that it's a "scam".

Truthfully, the company is great, the product is fantastic, and the support and training is wonderful.

The mirror holds the real answer here......

An incredible amount of wonderful advice has been given here by majority of the earlier posts, but i just want to drop this little piece. Strive to avoid the urge of jumping from program to program. Its important when working at home not to spread yourself too thin.

Remember Rome was not built in one day..........

Hello,

Great topic! Here's our contribution:

Does the company you are researching or belong to meet these five criteria? If not, then RUN the other way! If it's missing even just ONE of these five, then RUN, RUN, RUN!

1. Company management experience with integrity.

2. Timing of the company in its industry.

3. A remarkable, affordable and consumable line of products.

4. A pay plan that pays part-timers fairly.

5. A duplicable system.

Think about it.

Not sure if this has been discussed earlier on. But a couple of weeks ago i received an email asking me to register as a work at home agent for Dell (im sure dell dont know about this so i forwarded a copy of the email to them anyway). All they wanted me to do was to receive payments for them as an agent from customers based in Uk and then keep 10% and send the balance to them. If anyone ever receives such email PLEASE STAY AWAY because they will definitely send money into ur account but be guaranteed that within 1 month you will get a call from the FBI or your local police and your account will be frozen. Just felt i should live my experience here for us all to learn.

Scam are really just everywhere. So don't be too impulsive on joining, exert some effort to research. Read reviews, ask affiliates, and do whatever possible to protect you from being scammed.

I found this site looking to get the word out about 'Reality-Networkers'

I have come to the conclusion that they are a scam from the research I have done and talking to a few people personally.

They have a great system to bait people: again I simply want to get the word out(more).

'Larry'

PS pass the word, lets look out for the less fortunate, keep the net safe for us better marketers...

Seems like there are too many folks out there that forget theold adage.... If it sounds too good to be true.... It's probably a work-from-home scam!

I want to thank everyone for the advise and opinions that I have been reading about Angel Stevens Rebate Processor. I received a e-mail this morning from her advertising this thing and I came across this forum while trying to google it. You saved me $197 because I almost went for it. But then the other sense kicked in and I did the research. If anyone knows of a legit home based business let me know. These scams are getting to be a pain in the ........

One thing I see a lot from scams is the "BE YOUR OWN BOSS!!" statement. That's almost always an indicator of a scam.

Sometimes you can find out if a company is a scam just by typing the company name and the word "scam" in the Google search box. It oftens shows you posts from people who have been ripped off by the company you're researching, people who are calling it a scam.

The Arise company, requires payment for training, then requires a LLC. Should I assume that this company is a scam because I need to pay for its training? Really need to know because I have ten days left to decide whether to pay my state $100 for the LLC

There are tons of schems and scams out there that promise you the world but your job stays the same. There are no doubt mlm programs that work, work at home jobs that work. The due hicky that hangs us up is..us. By that I mean we don't stay committed to something long enough to see it through. The scammers we ought to watch out for are .....OURSELVES!!!

I think if you get a ton of emails from the same source, good reason to suspect scam as I notice that rebate processor emails are all from the same source!!! If it's so good why would you have to cram so many emails into a persons inbox/bulk folder?

It's easier to spot a scam than it is a legitimate programme. Often the scams are so well designed and put together that they look better than the real opportunities but in doing so they should be fairly obvious because of their outlandish claims.

This could be because the scammers have been doing this for a while and so know exactly what they have to do in order to dupe people out of their money. Usually they have no qualms about rejecting requests for refunds because they know their system doesn't work and they have no morals or scruples.

Unfortunately they are also very clever people but I think they have been misdirected in life somehow and have decided to go it alone and 'screw' society. You should never believe that you can earn $1,000 a day entering data for just two hours work, for example. If this were the case the industry would be overwhelmed by people doing it.

And, of course, the best way to spot a scam is to check out www.work-at-home-forum.com
before you do anything else as the advice is much better than you'd get anywhere else.

there's also a good website i found called the www.ripoffreport.com.

you just type in the company's name and it gives you all of the complaints against the company if any.
