Of course you do your due diligence.
Then if they will talk to me, I listen very carefully to what they say or
don't say.
If they will not talk to me. I wonder why they are "hiding". Now, I
realize people have a life and I am patient.

I agree. Found one that says you'll earn $1000 and more weekly without doing anything, but you still need to buy a training kit. That is very mysterious. And also, some people get scammed because they get too curious of the messages, but why not work hard to get a lot of money.

No doubt there. I tried it once and spent 30 mins on a survey that earned me nothing because at the end one of the questions disqualified me. lol even then it was worth like fifty cents.

Wow, so much has been said about this subject, much as most of it is true, i think some isn't. E.g. just typing on google insearch of for scam isn't much the best way to ascertain if a company is legitimate or not.

1. Because some scam companies may not have been captured on google, so you may miss it without knowing.
2. Some people just hate on some certain programs and start posting negative remarks about certain companies on google, simply because they failed to achieve results e.g. entered into a legitimate business but while they thought they would make quick cash and didn't, they gave up and then started blaming on the company to have been scammed etc.
3. Some people due to their personal reasons would not approve the way some home businesses operate, not without any genuine reason, so they will find something negative to say about it or brand it a scam.

So like many have said, research and find out why you want to join a certain company or take up on their offer, i.e. check out their business model, product line, track period, compensation plan etc. So when you get into a home business of whichever sorts, go in with your eyes open, so that if you once fail to achieve your goals in that business, you do not blame the company or anyone, but yourself for making the wrong decisions or not performing/persisting enough to see good results.

Good luck!

While we all know that there are countless scams out there, is there any regulatory body that people falling into one of these can go to rectify their problems?

And why are these scams allowed to continue with their nefarious activities?

Many of these companies are scams and in all honesty sometimes it is the buyers own fault. It is so easy to find information on Google and 9 times out of 10 a simple search will reveal people complaining about payment issues or scam reports.

Excuse me, are the three sites just after your comment your advertisements or the sites'?

Back to your point, how can I find the information you are talking about in Google? I am a newbie, as I have indicated. Newbies are easily taken in with promises of instant gratification. We are not like you who can smell a scam from a mile away.

Thanks.

I myself have been a victim of these kind of scams, where i paid and wasted enough money. It was those days when i really was not much aware of any legitimate opportunities. I had no knowledge of any good ones in here for which i dont really need to pay anything at all. I bet there are many out there who still fall into the trap of the fake work at home job providers.

Statistics show 1/30 are legit online business. The rest are scams. The biggest among them are those pay-to-surf sites like richptc.com and its variants keep away from them like a plague.

Basically any program that "guarantees" earnings I stay away from. No matter how easy something is there will always be many variables that affect its money earning capability.

Anyone know anything about http://processingenvelopes.biz. This one seems legit, but I've been ripped off by another stuffing envelopes program. Anyone know about them?

I tried an envelope stuffing program last year, I did everything I was supposed to do but I never received any payment, the site is gone now but I was really unhappy about the entire incident. I wish I could put my finger on exactly how to spot the fakes from the real ones but I don't really know with this sort of opportunity.

That`s not true that every website that ask you to pay for work is a SCAM !!?? For example, there are really good quality paid surveys website that will ask you to pay for joining them ( prefer to charge you one time fee and give you more money for each surveys, because you will work harder and they win more money from you doing this ... ) I don`t know if you understand me , but i can assure you that there are some good paid surveys websites that will charge you to join !!!

Two years ago I entered in a "cold bath" of stuffing envelopes program here in Brazil. I paid R$ 50,00 (something like US$ 28 dollars) and then after I receive some materials, they asked me more R$ 85 (US$ 44 dollars) which I didn't paid, but still lost US$ 28.

Good to know that now I have you guys to alert me from any scams sites.

Good post btw.

In my opinion simple online research soon weeds out the scams, read reviews about the opportunity and then if you are still not sure
that the reviews are legit, dont do it and move on

Contacting the Better Business Bureau will really narrow down the field. They maintain records on these businesses including any information that you provide.

In addition to Google and information you find there, identifying negative businesses is the focus of their business.

As with all information, you have to sort through what you hear and make an assessment.

In my opinion, one of the best ways to avoid work at home scams is to start your own work at home business from scratch. That way you know your business is legit! There are many people that create income from home doing things that they love such as making quilts, providing advice on things that they know how to do well, etc. My other thought is that there are many well-known, tried and true opportunities available that you could work with in order to avoid scams. Many of these opportunities work well for those who work the business.

Anyone looking to the internet for any home business opportunity should always do their due diligence before joining any opportunity. If it's all hype and no substance offering real value it's probably a scam.

There is no such thing as quick money online and one should resist the temptation of falling into the trap. A person must also understand even with legitimate online business's there usually will be an investment involved and ongoing monthly fees.

Be sure to check with the online business bureau and do a Google search. Find out how long the company has been around, if they maintain a physical address, a good phone number where they can be reached. Also get social proof of the business on social websites.

If they are legit they will be totally transparent and welcome you to check them out thoroughly.

This is TOO true. I get so tired of people getting tricked into believing that we can earn income without doing any work at all or for doing so little work that yo might as well not be working. True home businesses require work, persistence, integrity, and a sincere desire to make a difference/improvement in your life and also in the lives of other people. It's NOT easy, but it IS worth it.

A few years ago when we were first starting, we were so hungry to just make money that we made dumb promises and gave in to the temptation to pretend to be further along than we actually were. That kind of mentality put us in neutral - until we figured the right way to work. I wish there were some kind of regulatory body that actually worked to help people stay away from scammy, fraudulent companies. It puts a big stain on a very legitimate industry that's changing peoples' lives for the better every, single day.
