Help! I can't connect to Skype...

I didn't think we could...I thought I remembered reading that on the Skype website. The other day I had a lady tell me that a few people that she works with have a satellite connection and use Skype. I was able to hear my mom in the US fine, but she couldn't hear me. She could tell it was me and got bits and pieces of words, but not clear enough to make out what I was saying. She said there was a lot of other noise. Still disappointed about that. I'm having to pay regular landline fees!
