I am new as the day is long to working from home, I have looked around at countless sites, blogs, youtube ect, but am getting confused. I really want to supplement my income, eventually eliminate it and work from home but not looking for a get rich quick scheme. my computer skills are mediocre but I can get around and am learning. I would like to hear from everyone an unbiased opinion, advice that they can give or share, but please no sales pitches or links to sites to "look around". I'm in it to learn and share and meet great people and in it for the long haul.

Be ready to work harder than you worked at the job. There are a number of different legitimate models for building an income stream from home. The three I see most often are...

1. Network Marketing - You sell products to customers and build a team of people to sell product. Key to success: Be prepared to make a 3 - 5 year commitment if you want to build something that will continue to pay you after you stop actively working.

2. Affiliate Marketing - You sell a product someone else created and earn a commission on each sale. Key to success: Learn to drive targeted traffic and test, test, test. Also always be looking for the next deal.

3. Blogging - Write interesting content and monetize through ads and affiliate programs. Key to success: Pick a good niche that excites you because you need to become a celebrity in your topic to get enough traffic to make it worth it.

Working at home is bizarre when you first start to do it. About a month after going full time I realized one day that I had not left my house in 4 days.
If you are a people person then network marketing or blogging might be a better fit.

If you want to get started, I would suggest the 30 Day Challenge. Its a free course, and a lot of people have had success with it. There are other great courses out there that I could recommend, but they cost money, which is the reason I'm recommending this one.

Welcome Paul - ( I am assuming that is your name...)

Bob gave you a great rundown on what several of the options are as far as working from home - it takes a bit to get your brain wrapped around how the different things work.. so please don't be afraid to ask questions.

There will always be those that stuff their program under your nose but for the most part this is the safest and most friendly forum on the net.

Unbiased? Everyone thinks their program is the best, especially if they've achieved some success with it.

I agree with Bob, this takes hard work and results don't happen overnight, in a week, or even a year, maybe even longer. But they will appear if you lay your ground work first.

First, find out what you want to work on. Network marketing? Affiliate Marketing? I'm not that familiar with network marketing. I mainly concentrate on affiliate marketing, sell other peoples products, either digital or actual products. Find out where you can become an affiliate, they are all over the place. Just do a Google search on where to find affiliate products. The main ones I use are ClickBank, Commission Junction and PayDotCom; but there are many more.

Alot of people say choose what you're passionate about, but I say find out if what you're passionate about can make you any money. Because if no one else is interested in what you're trying to sell, you won't make any money.

Then you'll have to decide how to advertise the product. There are alot of good topics here on advertising and you can always ask questions. You'll always have questions.

As for advertising, my personal suggestion is since you're green, stay away from Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising until you are better experienced. Although it is a good way to get advertising for your business whatever you choose to follow, it can be very expensive and can actually cause you to lose money, all those clicks looks nice but if they aren't buying anything...

All I can tell you is, just keep looking through the forum. If you see something that interests you, ask for more information.

Working online takes patience, persistence and preserverance.

I forgot something really really important. Make a budget, decide what you can affordably spend on starting your own business, don't use the rent money thinking you'll make it back in time before the rent is due. You won't.

This should be fun and a learning experience, not another headache to add to all your other everyday headaches.

Don't believe the hype.

No wonder you are confused, there are hundreds of things you could do and picking out the possibles from the scams is a nightmare. I have been scammed several times. The secret it to take your time, list all the possibles, whittle them down depending on your own skills, knowledge and willingness to learn. Get it down to three and start one - giving it a reasonable amount of time and work. People normally don't find the right fit straight away but the sooner you start something, the sooner that will happen.

It is very overwhelming in the beginning. Find something that you are passionate about is always helpful. It makes it more fun and then you enjoy what you are doing and yes days go by and you have not left the house and are living off of bologna sandwiches. I lean towards affiliate marketing because there are so many ways to promote and you can fit it to what works for you. Do your own thing sort of.

Yes, I agree with the importance of finding something that you feel passionate about and interested in.

You need to focus on one thing and stick to it. Don't look around too much otherwise you will get very confused and overwhelmed. Look at your interests, and look for mlms or affiliate programs that will serve those interests.

My opinion for any beginner is to start selling on ebay. ebay is a trusted and scam free company. hundreds of people are signing for ebay account daily and it is the biggest online marketplace.

It is true. Success will not be overnight.

You have to be willing to learn a few skills. Learn the process of making money online properly. And have the correct mindset.

You'll be successful if you do that.
