It takes 2-3 weeks for a website to get indexed

From my experience in the past, it does take some time. The fastest page for me has been a squidoo lens, while my hosted blog still hasn't shown up. I think it take some time do to the content being so new and it has never been indexed before.

I've heard that the fastest way for Google to find your site is to have a link to your site from another already established (i.e., site that has already been indexed by Google and popular) site. This might also include Blogs, Articles, etc.

The first site I created, it took about 1 month for Google to find my site. On my second site, I was able to put together links from other sites that I've developed and in that case it only took 2 days. I was blown away. There is a strategy and steps to get your site indexed quickly.

Yeah, maybe posting an article with an url embedded is the easiest way

With an article or two or more submitted to directories like EzineArticles.com and good/orginal content (along with setting up your blog to ping the SE's and directories) you get indexed right away, within a day or so.

The list of places to ping are:

I'm not sure at blogger.com, check with them. I just have WordPress blogs and IMO WordPress is the way to go.

Hi,
Having promoted a few sites and blogs now I have found that it always takes at least a few weeks to start to see ranking appear. It also varies as to how long it will take. There seems to be no obvious formula to it.
To get things appearing more quickly it is worth submitting to google sitemaps, or sing a ping service to inform engines of your blog. On top of all that you should be backlinking to your blog at appropriate high traffic sites.

I think a lot of it depends on your keywords. Last year I put up a blog with the words 'internet marketing' in the url and various other key places. I was indexed within 24 hours without even submitting my site to Google. I don't think I even had any incoming links to that site either.
