I just started with a network marketing company mid January. Prior to that I was focusing on affiliate marketing.
One of the ways I have learned early on about generating leads is to try to have people come to you rather than you having to try to chase people down. This appealed to me immensely.
In my case, I decided to build a niche site (allaboutparasites.com) that provides information on particular health issues that my NM company solves with their products.
Once people find the solution to their problem and try the products, they can eventually be approached regarding the business opportunity. Some (perhaps most) may not be interested in starting a home business, but we both still benefit by them purchasing the products.
It may seem like a round about way of doing things, but I actually like the idea. We'll see how successful it is over time.
Of course, you could always build a site specifically geared toward people who want to work from home, but obviously you would have a much harder time dealing with the stiff competition in that niche.
Hope this gives you some food for though.
P.S. You can make your signature link clickable by wrapping it in this code

I would like to point out that before you go on forums trying to "wow" them with your expertise, make sure you do indeed have that expertise to share. If you go on a forum trying to act like an expert when you are not, it will backfire in your face.

Hi nassaujane,
I really think Happywife has a good point here,
Understand all about the product or service that your Nm is offering.
Then inform, educate, provide how to, tips and benefits of solving a particular need that is related to your Nm.
If you do these and other things so well, you will generate leads because you are solving some ones problem or need.

I don't think anyone is trying to "wow" anyone else on this one.

I am an network marketer as well, I don't like cold calling or having to search for prospects either. As mention I too prefer to have leads contact me, you definitely need a lead capture page if you are going to be marketing on the internet that is a given.
Plus all of the offline marketing you do should be sending your prospects to a site online (lead capture) where they can get more information or request a sample etc. Send everyone to this page. good luck thanks
Michelle

I use techniques from something called Attraction Marketing. This basically means that I choose to learn how to be more personal and lead with my story and build relationships with people on line from forums, myspace, youtube, ect. In youtube and several other video hosting sites I do make videos that can drive traffic to my site. But in the videos my intention is to add more in use value instead of being advertised to. I teach people how they can do things in their business, and that has been successful for me. I used to buy leads and post ads all the time but in the end it turned out to be a waste of time for me. So in Attraction Marketing it is more about the mindset when operating your business. We are not trying to catch or chase people down, we believe the right people will be attracted to us. Basically it is using Law of Attraction in a business sense. I can direct you to some free training if you are interested. Good luck to you.

Sorry about that HappyWife. I don't know how that message got in this thread. That was actually a reply to a message in a different thread. Maybe I'm in the twilight zone...

There are so many ways to generate your own leads. You can use articles, press releases, classifieds, PPC, solo ads, etc. I NEVER buy leads, I generate my own and do very well with it. My home based business shows you step by step through video tutorials how to market using the above sources. You can use free or paid methods, there's something for everyone. Once you know how to market the correct way online, you can always generate cash, no matter what business you're in. I wish you the best!

Buying leads is the worse thing you can do. These are leads that aren't even interested in what you have to offer but have been sucked in by that marketing company you decide to buy your leads from.
What us successful entrepreneurs are doing today is applying Web 2.0 Marketing Techniques and basically being able to utilize social networking website to attract and generate QUALITY & TARGETED leads that come to us already interested in what we have to offer.
You simply can't buy someone into your network marketing business and expect them to flourish so you succeed. You need to grow and develop into a leader and keep on learning on a daily basis to have people look up at you, wanting to join you because they know that you can benefit them in the future.
I recommend you take the time to find a proper mentor before diving into your next network marketing business. Without the right mentor, you will simply fail like the other 98% of the industry does.

Purchased leads have their place in online marketing as long as the company generating the leads are targeting the right prospects. The challenge is to find such a company and still remain profitable when purchasing these leads.
I utilize many free lead generation techniques but also purchase qualified leads that are company specific. That means they are generated only for my opportunity. What that means for me is turnkey qualified leads that actually join the business. We pay for this convenience but with my busy schedule it is nice to be able to control how many leads I generate with the touch of a button.
But be weary of some of these companies. Chris is right in that some of them will send you people totally unqualified for you opportunity and they will be a big waste of money. Try to get a referral from someone in your upline before you purchase any leads.

There is only greatness here!
I would assume that this question is coming from someone who is on a very tight budget. That said:
1. Myspace. Commit to a no spam marketing approach here. It's the largest social network on the web. People go there. If you know how to properly get a message out, you can get leads here. ***TRUTH - this is a true test to your ability to be attractive to others....if you cannot do it on Myspace, it's going to be hard EVERYWHERE.
2. Youtube Videos. The 2nd or 3rd most visited website on the net. I have videos that I made a year ago that make me money today. I would have put this in the #1 spot, but Myspace is easier to get your arms around than making videos. But if you can get videos down...you have a never-ending supply of laser targeted free leads.
3. Get a mentor. Find one that can talk to you everyday and make sure they built their business with no adwords...otherwise, they will not be able to relate to your needs. A mentor can cut your learning curve by years.
4. Stay away from any program that tells you that you can get rich quickly. I included this here because frankly...most people spend so much time chasing garbage claims that they don't have time to do the things that really work. So by following this advice, you will be allowing yourself more time to get more leads.
HAVE FUN NO MATTER WHAT!
Peace!

This is so absolutely true. The right mentor is key.

It is important to have a mentor with certain businesses but if you find a business that is easy and simple and you make money like I do every single day you may not need one.
