Hi All, Just a quick question about Clickbank products. I've been trying to wrap my head around their concept of "gravity" as a rating tool. As I understand it, gravity is related to how many affiliates the product has (how many people are trying to sell it).
I've read that you want to promote products with as high a gravity score as possible, but something bugs me about that strategy. Wouldn't that mean those are the products that you have the most competition to make a sale? If everyone and their brother are marketing Product X, it would seem the odds are stacked against you to get people to buy Product X from you.
Is there a gravity "sweet spot" between a product no one is interested in and an over-saturated market? If so, how do you figure it out?
Thanks for your time!
PS: sorry for the bad physics joke in the subject, I'm a dork. (or so my daughter tells me!)

Technically speaking, the higher the gravity, the more competition there is going to be, however, a low gravity does not mean the product does not sell - it just relates to the number of affiliates promoting the product. I would recommend reading the sales page of every product you are considering promoting, and if the sales page looks clean, and it is persuasive, there is a good chance that the product will convert, regardless of gravity. One thing to think about is that all products start out with a gravity of zero.

I don't look at the gravity at all when I am looking for new products. I like to read thru the pitch page and make sure it looks like a good fit for whatever I am promoting and just go with it.
Getagrip is right - they ALL start out with 0.

For me, i will look for the reviews of the affiliate products out there. If a lot of people are giving good review on this product. I believe that this product will benefit the others, then i will get this product and promote it.
Otherwise i will select something that are related to my website.

In definition, Gravity is the amount of affiliates who have sold one of "Product X" and are going to continue to sell more.

Hi Dr_Boo,
Gravity isn't really very helpful. I'd pay more attention to the return rate and the quality of the sales page (mentioned above).
Just find a product within your niche that looks good, is reasonably priced, has a low return rate (nowadays you may have to sign in to see that since they have recently changed their site), and that you've both purchased and feel is a good product.
As with everything else in online marketing and life, it'll take some experimentation to see what works for you.
Good luck,

Hi!
I am more looking at niche products rather than gravity!
We all are promoting products on niche markets!
Keep it in your mind,
There are many others doing same thing you are doing!
You need to be different, you need to have different plans!
Good luck to you
Happy day~^^

I look for products which are convincing enough to make me think about buying it. That's the whole point anyways.

When you test the products homepage does it make you want to buy that product.? does it make you want to learn more about it? Can it benefit you? Then that is the product to promote regardless of gravity.

You're looking to much into it.
I do like to promote popular products, but only if it meets all my other high expectations.
I've seen gravity high on products that were straight up crap, and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole.
The gravity doesn't mean much by itself
