Hi everyone,

I'm a media creator / manager for a business that uses Wordpress... not a plug, just giving a little backgroundplease don't ban me

I was thinking of starting up an online business selling eBooks on using Photoshop and I know Wordpress is sort of the de-facto website creation tool these days, but there's also Ning, Joomla, I also have a mac and have been eyeing Rapidweaver (I think Dreamweaver is out of my league).

Can anyone provide directions for a slightly clueless noob?

Thanks!
-Chris

Hi Chris,

To create my sites, I use 1and1.com as my domain provider and web host. Then I downloaded the free OpenOffice.org by Sun and use it to create HTML pages. You can also use this to type documents and print them directly into PDF format (for your ebooks). The learning curve is pretty easy on Open Office.

Sorry I can't elaborate more, but you just have to jump in to learn it all! Good luck!
Diane

Chris,
I use wordpress for 3 years now for my blog. Using this tool you don't need to learn any thing connected to coding the website.

You can find a lot of free plugins and forums explaining how to use the wordpress the best way.

I definitely recommend it!

If you have a mac, I'd personally recommend RapidWeaver. I've built several sites with that program and enjoy it. Other than that, WordPress seems to be the go-to application for customizable blogs and sites.

If you want to sell electronic books, I would suggest putting your ebooks on Clickbank, which makes the process very easy. You can learn more about that at the following link:
