I am using IX web hosting, filezilla and Nvu or Dreamweaver and I can not seem to figure out how to create a hyperlink to an ebook that I wrote so it is on my computer, my hard drive only.
This is for a thank you page for a Clickbank product.

Upload it to your website and create a link to it.

You just upload it to your server with an FTP program (like Filezilla) and create a link to it - just like a link to any other page on your site.
For example (I put spaces in the example so the link doesn't go active)
http:// thisismywebsite.com/ folderwithebooks/ thismyebook.pdf

Thank you for responding to my question. I am just missing something here.
I created a subdomain for the ebook, went in and found it on the right side of my screen in filezilla and when I attampt to drag the pdf ebook from my hard drive over to "index.html" or any other file, nothing happens??
Also, this ebook is not intended to be openly published to the web, How can I protect it from coming up in the search engines?
Thanks again. I understand your taking your time to answer my question and I really do appreciate it.
I asked my website host and the person I communicated with was clueless.

You must not drag the ebook over any file. It should be dragged to an empty space. Or just right click on the file in your desktop and click "Upload".
To prevent search engines from indexing the ebook, create a file named robots.txt and write the following in the file:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /PDF_EBOOK.pdf
Assuming PDF_EBOOK.pdf is the name of your ebook and it's placed in the root of sub-domain. If it is placed in a directory called book in the sub-domain then the file content would be as follows:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /book/PDF_EBOOK.pdf
Then upload the robots.txt to the root of your sub-domain.
