I am.
Although I have a high level of interest in the business, I do not believe most of the claims made. If it was so easy, why do so many people claim they have been scammed. I have not found a single program that someone has not claimed is a scam.
Does anyone have any idea what percentage of people who sign up for these programs actually stick with it? How much work is involved and what kind of follow-on costs can be expected?
Does anyone know of any techniques to wade through all the get-rich-quick claims? Any clues as to how you can tell what is real and what is not?
Frustrated...

BillBoh: Does anyone have any idea what percentage of people who sign up for these programs actually stick with it? .00000005%
BillBoh: How much work is involved.... 220%
BillBoh: what kind of follow-on costs can be expected? Depends... on the program.... your experience with internet marketing.....your budget
BillBoh: Does anyone know of any techniques to wade through all the get-rich-quick claims? trial and error
BillBoh: Any clues as to how you can tell what is real and what is not? there is no way to tell unless you have some experience under your belt
Okay... seriously... I don't mean to be sadistic or sarcastic, but if it were as easy as most of the gazillions of wah ad pages make it sound , then everyone and his brother would be millionaires already.
Most of us on here have learned thru trial and error and some of us, like myself, have invested thousands of dollars thru that process...
If I would have found affiliate marketing right from the get go, I may have avoided that but then again, the grass is always greener on the other side and until we have tried a variety of things in the wah arena, we will always wonder if maybe what the other guy is doing may be better after all....
It takes awhile for anyone to get thru the learning curve of all the ins and outs of internet marketing unless you have some kind of IM experience so here is my advice to you.
Get a program that you feel somewhat good with and follow the instructions... get the feel of it all...and see what happens.

Hi Mr. Baggins,
M5 is correct on each account. I concur 100% with her response.
Read up for free from this forum and industry blogs (make money online and online marketing blogs) for a few months and for life.
Take the free 30 Day Challenge.
That should give you a good start on the fundamentals of online marketing, which is the proper first step.
Then put your theory into practice by experimenting with some free pages such as Squidoo and similar.
Monitor, tweak, learn.
Pay attention to which premium programs seem to be most popular on this forum. Purchase one at a time for a grand total of perhaps three or four programs.
That - along with your experience - will and should guide you for life.
Other than that, invest in software and continue to develop needed skill sets.
Enjoy the process, provide value to your visitors, and never give up.
That's it in a nutshell.

BillBoh, I think I have felt your frustration more than a few times. There is a lot of hype out there, not to mention scams. Affliate marketers just trying to make a buck and really caring who's on the receiving end.
I am new to internet marketing and just started a few months ago. I have spent a lot of money on my credit cards trying to find something that would work. Don't give up, there are a few out there.
The one I am most actively involved in right now is by no means a get rich quick, be the next millionare, etc. It is fool-proof, made for beginners and can generate you some extra pocket cash. It's sort of like affiliate marketing except you don't really pay for advertising, and you don't have to split commissions. A website is set up for you and they host it for you, answer any questions that come to your website and really is the first program I have tried that consitently gets me sales, and not a measly 1-3% conversion (actually that's pretty good for affiliate marketers) I'm at about a 40 % conversion rate right now.
As mountainmom5 said, you do have a learning curve with internet marketing, but my best suggestion is to take it one step at a time, don't try to do too much at once. Like take for example, if you are an affiliate marketer, just try to focus on one area to promote your product, like writing articles for ezine or squidoo and the more articles you post, the higher you get indexed in the search engines, and update your content frequently the search engines like fresh content!!
I am by no means rolling in the dough, but do have enough now to not be paycheck to paycheck which was the whole goal when I started. Best of luck BillBoh

It is a common marketing strategy for many to use the word scam to talk about their business or another one. So just because you see something like 'Is company x a scam', does not mean that it is.
As well, some people who have failed to make money with a program will then conclude that it is a scam.
Are there lots of scams out there? Yes, there is. It does not take one long to find the obvious ones like those that offer you 1000% on your money in 24 hours. And regardless of what anyone tells you, gifting programs are illegal. (And for those that say they are legal - present your program to the local police and ask them about it.)
And if you can't find out who is behind a particular program, don't bother with them. Don't become involved with those that hide behind their website.
As for how many succeed online making money - the numbers would be low in percentages but high in numbers.
And one can market online using mainly free methods but there are always some costs involved.
It all boils down to how much you want to learn and then apply that knowledge to what can become a very successful venture for you online.

Well whats been said so far pretty much sums it up but if i could add my 2 cents worth I would have this to say ...
Yeah you will get some people calling an online system a scam - but what you need to do is look at the bigger picture. Are the lots of bad feedback about a product ... yeah well then I would be a bit hesitant too. A few bad reports ... is it perhaps that these people just didn't cut the muster purely for lack of input on their side? But you know forums and reviews are great ways of sussing this out. Get loads of feedback first and then make an informed opinion. Don't just take the word of a few people.
Also, lets face it. If you decide to try out a new venture you are going to need training. So instead of investing loads of money trying out one product for another until you find one that works for you (and even then it may be per chance) rather take the first step of decided what you want to do and then invest in getting the right training to do it. Even a waitress gets a bit of training before she is unleashed on the customers, yes?
Just like any position ... if you go for an interview and are uncomfortable with the job specs or something - you wont take that job will you. Same with any online business venture - if you are uncomfortable with the package before the get go ... don't do it.
Working online takes commitment and believe it or not .... hard work. In fact, you may work harder in the first 6 months than you have worked for any other boss but the long term prospects are a heck of a lot more profitable.
One thing this has taught me is patience .... Don't rush into any opportunity because it sounds so fantastic ... if its too good too be true it usually isnt'.
There you go ... oh wait ... that was 5 cents worth

You shouldn't just generalize all online incomes to be scam, it appears like you have not looked around long enough. There are sure somethings you can do online which you won't have to pay upfront for, you are looking in the wrong places.
