I'm looking for some immediate cash to fill in the gaps... is Associated Content worth looking at? As far as I can tell, you can make a few bucks from submitting articles.

Good morning Lars,
I actually just signed up with Associated Content this morning because I have heard good things about the site. I will keep you posted on what I learn.

please let us know. I happened to just find AC myself, but I am looking at it from a content user perspective. I have read a number of articles in the work at home type subject and some of the writers there seem top notch. I would be interested to hear how they review your articles for publication.

I like associated content for their upfront payments on approved articles. They pay by paypal within a week of getting credited to your account with no minimum. Excellent site plus you also get daily earnings from your article.

I didn't have much success with articles submitted to AC. They kept rejecting everything. Even articles that I had no problem getting published at EzineArticles.
I'm not sure there is a ton of money in articles from article directories that pay pennies for the reads, except in articles you write that drive traffic to your website to make you money from your product or service you are promoting. If writing articles it may be ideal to focus on writing for the purpose of driving traffic to your website and not to hope to make good money from the cash paid from article directories. They have to get money from somewhere to pay you, which is probably from the ads on their sites, so why not position yourself to benefit most from your writing by focusing to writing for the purpose directing quality traffic to your website(s). Even an adsense website would potentially make your more money.

It sounds as if the best way to find out (because every niche/product.writer is different) is to try it. Good Luck! Victoria

I have written articles there and they have paid upfront from $2- $5 for short articles that take about 15 minutes to write. They do not pay upfront for every article but I have had about a 50% success rate at getting paid upfront. They can take up to a week before they review your article but pay you via paypal within a few days.

Associated Content pays you 2 ways: upfront and with ad revenue when people click on the ads surrounding your article.
If you want to make money with Associated Content, be prepared to write literally dozens to hundreds of articles. They don't have to be just about one topic, but the content of what you write should be interesting and preferably useful so that readers will want to read more and more of your stuff.
You have to make yourself visible, so Twittering your articles and Facebooking your articles will help.
Don't expect to replace your 9 to 5 job in the next week or month. I would venture to say wait a good 6 months before you start to see a few hundred dollars, but if you don't write often, then you can't make money.
Associated Content has a long approval process, too, 7 - 10 days. You'll have to make the changes the editor asks. Once I got an email from the editor telling me to make the word "website" into "web site". I decided that Associated Content was not the best way for me to build links and help my SEO ranking in my affiliate business. Ezine Articles is much better for doing that.
However, if you just enjoy writing and want a simple, no-marketing way to make a little extra cash, then writing content for pay can be very attractive. It's very popular among work at home moms.
The great thing about these types of sites is that content stays on the internet for years. So people years from now can read your articles, and you can still earn from them. If you write about "evergreen" topics, meaning content that stays valuable all year around, year after year, you will benefit the most in the long run compared to writing about a trendy topic that loses its novelty over time.
Trendy topics tend to work better on blogs and social networks.
If you plan on replacing your income entirely with Associated Content, be prepared to keep writing for at least a year or more before your articles make enough money month after month on their own.
If you enjoy writing and wish to find other sites that pay you to write, I recommend you visit Willow Sidhe's blog Freelance Home Writer Blog
Willow has done an excellent job writing thorough reviews of websites that pay well or pay poorly. She may not be actively writing content for every single site she reviews, but she's done meticulous research. Also, check the blog comments that people leave because some people may have had experience with that particular website.
