Hello,

I'm new here and I wanted to see what you all think is the best affiliate program. My website is a political blog and in addition to the Adsense ads I am currently displaying I would like to promote a product that pays decent commissions.

Any ideas?

Thank you so much,

Brian

You could promote Cafe Press items with political slogans of your choice.
(or create your own items and post widgets for them on your blog)
Using other peoples items is easier but you make more with your own creations,
plus other people can sell yours on their sites.

I agree with Just2EZ. T-shirts, mugs, bumper stickers. Also...other related items. It is amazing how many companies have affiliate programs of some sort now.

I don't keep up with politics nearly as much as I should, and I know nothing about politics related blogs. But if I were you, I'd check out other sites related to yours and see what they are doing.

If there is a good affiliate program, then chances are someone in your field will be using it. Just check the top 10 sites for your main keywords and see if they are focusing on adsense or if they are using some other means of revenue.

One of the programs I am working with is working out great for referral commissions. And adds to your quiver as an income source even without having referrals. At any rate of all the different programs I have represented in the past including offline ones like Amway, this one is definitely the best by far. I am at about a 2 to 1 conversion rate for signups. And I haven't even pushed it, they look at it and they are in. Commissions are great as well.

I would promote Amazon products, or some other bookstore affiliate program. Granted margins are very thin, but if you look at all of the political books out there it should give you TONS of content to write about! Plus, you could then add the book/products related to that article right on that page!

Have you looked at cj.com or linkshare? They have a ton of stuff you promote as an affiliate.

Network Marketing VT offers a $98 commission paid directly to members. The products include downloads for Craigslist marketing, affiliate marketing, word press blogs, CPA networks, and numerous other products. Before I found this, I considered marketing a click bank product but now I have my own products that I could have other affiliates sell. Members can use the products to develop and promote their business. I haven't found anything else with such a great commission.

Amazon is definitely a great place to help add some money to your site. I would also look for websites that sell items (t-shirts, mugs, books, stickers or whatever) that fit or relate to the politics of your blog and see if those sites have some sort of affiliate/sales commission program. Sometimes you actually have to contact the site and talk to them directly about it because they want to keep their advertising to sites with related content and not just random sites trying to make a buck.

Good Luck,
Cheers!!

John

You've got some solid information from forum members. Amazon and Cafe Press are both excellent sites! You can't go wrong with either one.

One suggestion: If you decide to utilize Cafe Press, check out your competition and don't do the "same ol', same ol'" everyone is doing. Set yourself apart from the pack in a more creative way. It should pay off nicely for you!

All the best!

I went to Clickbank and found nothing about politics.

The only thing I found on Google that talks about politics, is this website:

Hope this helps.

Yeah I was going to suggest Amazon too. They've got tonnes of good books that would appeal to a political argument. As WahIdeas said they're commissions are quite low but they convert really well because they're a trusted and well known brand.

You could move away from the political agendas and try something different just for a change and you might find something else you really like to do. I think Clickbank produces a good income and they keep you updated with new items.

Here is a link to some political products on clickbank. Please don't remove this link it is not an affilliate link.
http://www.clickbank.com/mkplSearchResult.htm?mainCategoryId=1408&sortField=POPULARITY&b1=1408

If it does get removed you can go to clickbank.com, click on marketplace, and them click on politics/current events on the left under categories.

Have you considered signing up for Viglink, installing it on your blog, and turning on the automatic feature?

If your site has a keyword or so that triggers Viglink, they'll automatically turn that word into an affiliate link on your site. You don't have to do anything.

Being that your blog is political, it might be a bit tricky to turn on the Viglinks since most of their products are consumer: eBay, Walmart, etc. However, you might be able to talk about government and bi business and Apple and Amazon.

Then the Amazon links turn on.
