I thought I posted something about this before but here is another video on the subject but keep watching this video after the laptop battery series, there is some great tips on here, gas saving, phone apps, sleep aids, etc. Just sit back and keep watching! Please let me know if you got some good out of this. Sorry there are some commericals for Lincoln but hey the good with the bad right?

You will still need to replace your battery every 2-3 years no matter how hard you try to make it last longer.
I think batteries are becoming way too expensive. For example I have a laptop and the company wants like $150 for a new one. No way. I am just going to plug it on power and will not replace it.
You can get a new laptop for like $500 so it does not make any sense. A battery should cost $40-$70.

Shop around! I often help friends find $25-$50 replacements.
Google the model# or search on eBay for the best deals.
I agree the manufacturers hope to make a mint off failures.
Henry Ford demonstrated the the profit in parts long long ago.
A car would cost 10x the sticker price if you bought each part.
3rd party batteries are sometimes better than the original.
You can also re-build most battery packs using new batteries.
Don't pay toll to the trolls.

Is there a way to figure out if the after market batteries are safe however. I know there was an issue at one time about that.

The main recalls have been with original batteries exploding, not replacements.
Many of the replacements are better than the factory supplied ones.
After all, the computer maker is trying to sell cheap computers.
Their focus is on bottom line profits, not the best quality.
Always look for feedback on whatever brand you buy.
It's easy to find complaints on the internet.
