Google Released their new browser named Chrome. This happened a week after Microsoft released the test version of IE-8.

Interesting things going on in the background. Microsoft tried to buy out Yahoo earlier this year. Google has been providing quite a bit of support to Mozilla Firefox, yet is now a direct competitor with them as well.

Then there are some lesser competitors such as Opera, Safari, and a small handful of others.

Internet Explorer still commands over 70% of the market share. It helps to be an early starter. It's very difficult to break into the browser market. Google is one of the few that has a chance of making a significant dent in market share.

Browser wars, eMail wars, search engine wars...all great for the consumer. Value in the form of cost (free in this case for now), capabilities, and stability.

Chrome is open source for now so improvements should come quickly.

Fun stuff

A 38-page comic book presentation that describes all the features of Google Chrome is available here:

You can also monitor Google's official blog http://googleblog.blogspot.com/ for information on where to download a copy.

Interesting! With them dominating virtually every field they set their feet on, I wouldn't be surprised if they achieve the same feat in this arena.

I just added a Poll to make the topic more interesting. I hope that's OK NS.

Interesting indeed! Considering Google's track record, their footprint in cyber space and the brain power at their disposal, Chrome could take a serious bite out of IE's market share.

You can download Google Chrome here: http://www.google.com/chrome

Yes, if anyone has a chance to make a dent, it's Google.

I won't try it right away because it will certainly be buggy. However, after the open source community works on it for a short while, it should be very impressive in record time.

Great idea on adding a poll. I'm glad you thought of that :)

Me too, I usually don't try out stuff immediately. Google's desktop search had a security flaw initially.

I tried it, very very briefly. I was very much disappointed with it, given how much more impressive the other offerings are.
