Hi everyone. I just logged into my SBI account and discovered they started their Christmas sale. It is the best sale they run all year.
Basically, instead of getting one site for $299 you get 2 for the price of 1. The first one starts immediately, but you can wait and start the second one for up to 9 months.
Actually, I know a few of you have been thinking about trying SBI but were nervous about the price. If two of you go together, you can split the cost and get the whole deal for $150. That's only 12.50 per month if you break it down.
Anyway, I didn't really want to write a sales pitch, but it is such a great deal I couldn't help letting you all in on the information. Hope no one minds.
Happy Holidays!

Got a better one than that for you. Join Wealthy Affiliate and get Site Rubix free. It is worth your time to check this out because they furnish every tool you need including the hosting. THe only thing you need to pay for with Site Rubix in the domain name and we all know we can get one for less that $10 per year.

Thanks for the tip. Actually, it isn't a better deal, because it looks to me like WA is $29.95 per month and I have a sneaky suspicion it can't compete with SBI, but I won't argue the point since I've never used it.
I love SBI 'cause I know it works from personal experience. I just wanted all my friends and acquaintances here on this forum to know about the sale in case they've been sitting on the fence and are starting to get a bit sore. It's comfy over on this side.

Just wanted to let you all know that Sitesell has extended their buy one get one free website building offer. The sale is still on until January 4.
A great idea for a New Year's Resolution!
Happy New Year!

Happywife - how funny! I've been reading through SBI's free affiliate program and I'm getting to the point that I need to build the website and I'm really considering SBI, and to see it's on sale for another two days.
I'm trying to figure out how to PM you...

Got your PM and sent you a reply. Sorry it took me so long to respond. I didn't have computer access for a couple of days.
The sale ends at midnight on Jan. 4. That's their best sale until next Christmas. I've had no regrets with my SBI purchases.
I'm starting my 3rd site with them soon. I was planning to wait until March or April, but they are having a "contest" for those wanting to build sites that deal with Network Marketing/MLM, but who want to do it the "right" way (SBI ha ha). The prize for the contest $10,000, which I don't realistically see myself winning but it comes with free training and coaching (from Renegade Marketer Anne Sieg) so I signed up for it anyway. The deadline to enter the contest is Feb. 6, so I will have to activate my 3rd site by that date and get started on it.
I must say, I'm relieved in many ways. Although I am going to be really pressed for time starting this soon, the niche is something I'm not as confident with and so will be very grateful for the additional training and perspective.
Any other MLMers want to throw your hat into the ring? Let me know.
Happy New Year everyone! All the best for 2008.

I signed up on Jan. 3rd. Good thing too b/c I was in that CA storm yesterday and we had no power and then no internet for almost the whole day. Have already started working through the materials. It really is much easier to understand and is laid out right there for you! I learned a lot from Profit Lance, but this walks you through actually making a specific website step by step. I'm excited to get it going!

I am not making any money yet. BUT, I only joined in January. I have now built a website of 29 pages about a topic I am very comfortable with. It looks very professional b/c SBI makes it so easy for anyone to put it all together. Also, I am starting to get traffic because I selected good keywords using SBI's tools. Again, easy (and fun). Once I get enough traffic, then I will start to monetize it via google ads, affiliate links, etc. Whatever works best for me and my topic. The possibilities are wide opened. So no, no money yet, but I have enjoyed building my website so far and I'm proud of it. I'm anxiously awaiting to get more traffic. Also, I should say, my time to work on this is limited by my kids! So if you have the time, you could build a website faster.
Happywife... you can chime in here b/c I know you're monetizing!

Have you gone to the SBI site and taken a look at the program? Basically, they teach you how to build a website properly so that it is optimized for the search engines, provides valuable content for the visitors, and brings in targeted traffic.
How you make money (monetize) from it is sort of up to you. They show you how to implement a number of different options. You can sell your own products on your site, you can sell your services, you can promote other people's products and earn a commission, you can sell advertising (Google Adsense, etc.), whatever suits your own niche and personal preferences.
You can look at my chocolate site as an example.
I have Google ads - I make money when people click on the ads. I promote chocolate and candy making items from different companies - I make a commission on the sales. I promote a few digital products - again I make commission on the sales.
I hope that helps you understand a little bit better how it works. Let me know if I can help you further.

Being very new to the work at home world,I spend hours every day doing nothing but research in forums & review sites. I have yet to read a bad review or post about Site Build It. About an hour ago I read an excellent review, (the best one I have seen), at the blog of Steve Pavlina. If you still have questions I suggest you read his review.
hope this helps

It is absolutely worth the price - if just for the experience and knowledge you gain from it all.

That's correct. I suppose you could use adwords if you wanted to, but I never have. It's completely unnecessary because they teach you to build your site in such a way that the search engines send you free targeted traffic.
Just a little personal horn tooting (please excuse me :grin - someone just informed me today that my chocolate site was listed on Sitesell's results page (non-affiliate link) for sites in the top 1% in the world according to Alexa. To be honest, I'm pretty sure all three of my sites would qualify.
That's really no tribute to little old me, but to the power of SBI. I knew absolutely nothing and just followed their instructions. Yes, I did have to actually do the work, but they told me exactly what to do.
So, it's well worth the price. I have built and hosted all three of my sites using SBI and am a very satisfied customer.
Blessings, Angie
P.S. They happen to be running their summer special at the moment where you can buy one package and get the second for $100. It's great if you know someone else who would like to go halves with you or if you have two niche concepts in mind. (You've got 9 months to activate the second site).

Thank you for the advice and for taking the time to help.

One question: I'm a little sumpped on the pricing structure - I was under the impression that $299 paid for everything, and by that I mean that you can build unlimited websites for that price. Now I'm under the impression that if someone wanted to build two sites with SBI at the normal rate, it would cost $598. Please clarify - thanks!

Thanks everyone for the kind words of congratulations. I do appreciate it.

Yes, the price includes the domain name and registration, hosting, and all the software tools for researching and building, ezines, automatic blogging, etc.
How long it takes to get consistent traffic will depend on how much time you have to put into building your site. Some people know going in pretty much the niche topic they want to build around, others have no idea. If you take 2 months to figure out what your niche topic is going to be, obviously you're not building the site during that time, so no traffic.
Once you've got the research done and have chosen your domain name and started building, your traffic will start trickling in almost immediately. It gradually builds the more content pages you add and the more time you put into it.
The competitiveness of your niche will also play a factor in how quickly you rank for your particular keywords. Obviously, the less competitive the niche the quicker you can "win" a place in the search engine for the keywords.
Again, the number of people searching (the demand) also plays an important role. There are just so many variables that one can't make a blanket statement and say you will have x amount of visitors in x amount of time.
The first couple of months are the slowest. You are learning and building and waiting for the search engines to spider your pages and start sending you free traffic. SBI refers to the business building process as being like a tortoise. You just take the steps steadily along and the momentum builds and grows.
Here's an example... I started my third site at the end of January (the parasite one). Here are my visitor stats for the first couple of months (monthly totals). The first number is the number of visits and the second is the number of different unique visitors:
February 696/325 March 1541/1019 April 2021/1282 May 2356/1328
I haven't done anything but build the site. The traffic is sent by the search engines for free because I build each page around a particular keyword or phrase that I know people are searching for based on the keyword research I've done using SBI's tools.
Remember, too, that I have 2 other sites to work on and maintain, so I don't work on this site exclusively in my free time.
Like with anything, the more time and effort you put in, the more you will get out. The advantage of using SBI is that you can be more confident that you are spending your time doing the right things, things that actually do work.
I hope that makes it a bit more clear for you.
Blessings, Angie

The $299 pays for everything for ONE site for a year. So, yes, if you wanted two sites, you'd pay that twice, or in my case three times (although I took advantage of one of the specials so saved a couple of hundred my first year).
It breaks down to $25 per month to build a legitimate online business. If you are just wanting to throw up a dozen mini sites or something, obviously this would not be the cheapest way to go.
Of course, I wouldn't have known how to go about doing that anyway when I started. People get a bit confused when considering SBI because they are comparing it to something like GoDaddy or BlueHost.
That's like comparing potato chips and chocolate. There is no comparison at all. They both are good but not at all the same.
You aren't simply buying a domain name and hosting. You are buying a business building package with everything you need to succeed from the training, support, tools, members forum, etc.
I am one of the most frugal gals in the world and was not at all impressed with the price before I used SBI. Now I can appreciate the absolute bargain I have on my hands (that's why I have 3).
Hope that clarifies!

I just started researching this yesterday and it will be awhile before I decide what to do. I'm still in the middle of the PL course and I would like to have a good handle on what my niche is before I take that next step. Again, thank you very much for the information. It has really been helpful.

Just wanted to add my support for SBI to this thread. I have built sites without them which did ok, but my latest site, started last autumn, I built with SBI and I cannot fault them at all, in fact I cannot praise them highly enough. My Mum, who has no web experience has also just built a great site with them! (I helped a little bit).

I have been looking into creating my own sites for my business. SBI sounds like a good potential option. Now, I have some questions that I would be very grateful for anyone who can answer them:
1) Say I want to have 3 sites through them, will I pay $299 per year and per site?
2) Can I have my site done in other languages as well?
3) Would I be able to have videos, pics and audios on my site?
4) How about being able to have capture pages and or surveys on my sites?
Again, any feedback on these ? would be very appreciated!
Cheers.

Wanderlust, I'm only about 7 months into my first website and I'll answer what I know.
1) Yes, $299 per year per site. If you sign up under some promotion you can usually get a discounted deal on the first year of your second website. Or sometimes even a buy one get one free as I got.
2) I'm not sure about this one b/c I only know english, but I'm pretty sure there are other language options. Someone else can better answer this question.
3) Yes, you can have videos, pictures and audio on your site.
4) Yes, you can have capture pages and the such. SBI has a forms tool and you can put together several varieties of forms for people to fill out and you capture their information.
I don't get as much time to work on my site as I'd like so I'm a little further behind than I wish to be, but then again, I'm proud of what I've built with not knowing anything about building websites! The tools and support that SBI has provided has been priceless. You need to think about all the support and tools you get when you pay that $299/year.
I hope this helps a bit. Ask more questions if you have any!
Tracy

Thanks Tracy for your reply to my questions. Much appreciated. When I asked about sites in other languages, I didnt mean for them to do the sites for me, I meant to be able to do them myself as I am polyglot due to my heavy travellings in my life.
Btw, is there a contact email or # direct within SBI that I can have to contact them directly for my other questions?
Again, thanks a lot for your help.
Cheers.
