Which forum software do you use? PHPBB and SMF are free, but phpBB takes a lot of server resources. Do you know of any software which loads fast?

Thanks for information.
Is it easy to export data from phpBB to miniBB and vice versa? Also have you changed servers while using miniBB, is it easy to restore data?

I'm not sure about exporting data from phpbb to minibb. It may not be easy or even achievable. You can contact minibb support team if they can help you out with it.

Regarding restoring data, there is no one click solution. But through telnet access to your account, you can restore the data in two commands, if you have the database backup.

You can use SMF which is pretty good in terms of a free script
vBulletin is a good script if you are willing to pay for it.

Phpbb uses alot of resources and are prone to attacks. Needs quite alot of time to manage and maintain it.

I've always preferred vbulletin.com forum software.
That is what I am currently using on my forums.

I use SMF for my forum and it works really well. It loads fast, has a nice interface and skins, and a great user forum. I have it integrated with mkportal (www.mkportal.it) and it works great for a free software.
I would certainly recommend it. If you know how to code you can create your own skins and mod the forum to look like you want it to.

Yes, I agree SMF loads much faster than phpBB, but there fewer mods and skins available .

I might start my own forum (when I get the free time and energy!)
