Good morning all. I've been thinking about getting on board with a few "paid" advertising campaigns as opposed to the free ads I've been utilizing. Nothing too big as my budget doesn't allow it but my questions are this. Is paid advertising worth the cost in getting traffic? If so, what sites or methods do you suggest I use? Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

Depends on the subject of your website. Google Adwords PPC is OK, but some times CPC can be high

You can try searching for a $25 advertising credit through Yahoo Search Marketing, or give Google Adwords a shot. I will say, however, that unless you have a website that converts and understand a lot about marketing, PPC advertising can drain your wallet FAST! For this reason, I think its best to start out with the free methods such as article marketing.

I've paid for solo ads and some basic traffic pumpers before, with little success BUT I did get a few sign ups and as those people are still with me I've made my money back at least. Still for me free is the way to go, once your budget hits 0 traffic dies when you're paying for it, with free marketing, it's like set it and forget it my friend, and you can't beat that.

Search in google, review:Is GDI a scam, or simply is gdi a scam and I come up #1 with the first and in top 10 with the second. I wrote that article MANY moons ago it seams and it's still a solid traffic driver...sadly I haven't really back linked it either. It's linked to on my site and on a blog...and well that's pretty much it. Solid keywords and good info pull people too you. Why pay for that? I think it took me all of like 30 minutes to write that article.

I think a lot of people get put off on writing articles because they don't think they can write. What I would do if you're serious but can't write is get a tape recorded and say everything you want to say, then just transcribe it. Spell check it and proof read it. Get a couple of them out there and with a little work and commitment traffic will start to come in.

I have not paid for any advertising.
I use all the free methods for generating traffic:-

Article writing
Blogging
SEO
Forum commenting
Traffic Exchanges

Organic traffic is always the best.

Hi Centaur,

I agree with the above comments. I'd start with free methods. Always use them, but you might try your hand at paid advertising later on. Before you try it, make sure you know exactly what you are doing and how to track it on the back end.

Wait until you have a decent budget before considering using paid traffic generation methods. You're better off spending your time with improving your writing skills.

Without a doubt, I also would suggest starting with free advertising.
You will know your market better and gain many skills this way.
You also can make money with the same articles, classified ads, Lenses and Hubs again and again if they are successful.
Have a great day!

I tend to agree with everyone here, I would start with FREE methods, as there are plenty of them to get you good, targeted traffic. I even have a way to get tons of leads from ebay. I have an ebook that shows a ton of ways to get FREE and VERY low cost targeted traffic to your site and they work. I use them consistently. PM me if you're interested in getting the ebay report or the ebook. It will give you plenty of ways to get traffic, while showing you how to do it step by step.

lemonseahorse,

I agree with everyone about the free advertising. I have used some paid advertising (budget type) and have gotten nothing but my business is growing from the free advertising and things that are free but do take time to do.

Article writing - You write articles and submit them to article directories.

Blogging - You start your own blog and submit it to blog directories and pingoat, pingomatic, etc.

Forum commenting - You make comments that are helpful to others on forums.

Traffic Exchanges - I haven't used this much but I have used trafficswarm dot com with a little success. This is where you ad some sites and you surf other sites to get credits to be able to show your site to others.

I think PPC gives you the most traffic but I have not tried it because I realize you need to know what you are doing before trying this type of advertising because it is quite costly.

Hope this helps,

Becky West

Becky gave some great suggestions for FREE advertising. I have a whole video series on how to use myspace effectively that I give to my teams. Plus an ebook that gives great information on free and very low cost methods.....shows you where to advertise and how to do it step by step. If you click on my sig, you'll be taken to the free ebay report, another very effective way to get traffic for very little cost. There are alot of ways, you just have to explore them. Hope that helps.

I have been doing most of the above things for free for advertising. This may sound a little dumb but whats a "hub"?
Thanks

I noticed no one's mentioned Backpage.com or free classified ad campaigns. I've only been marketing in these fields for the past 7 days and have received 65 opt-in's already! Is there anyone seeing any great successes from these forms? Thank you all for sharing your techniques thus far!!

Hey wealthy1,

Do you use an automated submission software or just take the time to post manually to these free classified sites? I've been doing some research on some of the classified submission software for craigslist, backpage, etc and was wondering if anyone had used any of them.
