Anyone tried Adwords as a form of advertising? Is it really very effective? I am nervous about the Pay Per Click potential cost. Anyone able to share some experience and tips?

Keep your initial max bid very low 2 or 3 cents and see how much traffic you get, then gradually adjust the amount.

Don't go overboard and keep the bid low like pcwork suggests, only assign keywords that relate to you site as it is targeted traffic you are after. I would also suggest finding a free ebook online shouldn't be hard and reading through a to get a feel of the whole adwords environment.

Get low cost keywords for your ad.
Set a affordable budget for your daily budget.
Put at least a keyword in your ad headline.

There is a function which adword provide, it shows you the phrase that you selected.

In columns, the estimated search number per day of that phrase, the estimated cost of it to place it on the 1-3 position.

Heard of Perry marshall? Search for him and read through his 5 days course before creating a campaign. it will certianly help you. =)

I have used the adwords, It does work, but they want you to pay more so that your ad appears on the first page. You have to select a particular territory or region when you sign up for the adwords service. For example If you have selected a smaller region, there are more chances that less ads will show up according to the keywords used and there will be more chances that yours will appear on the first page. I will try blogging first to increase the traffic to your website.
Good luck.

The key to Adwords is to start small - and optimize, optimize, optimize.

Adwords is actually good ad delivering rapid bursts of traffic - but it is easy to blow alot of money - and not get alot of conversions if you are not careful.

You have to play with it a bit $5 at a time - to see what works - test your landing pages, track to conversions - whatever a conversion is for you. And then try again.

It is not easy to find the right combinations - but if you stick to it - you have good tools in there to develop some good targeted traffic and conversions.

Make sure your site is ready and in top shape - before you increase your spend - because you really want to turn traffic in to repeat customers and/or visitors to your site.

I'm just starting with Adwords on the advice of a friend who has a Magicians site and has been using this summer. I kept it just to $10 per month, 2 cents per click.

I'm a bit confused tho with keywords. I do live snake shows for kids at schools, etc so I don't need a million clicks, just want 3 or 4 Birthday parties a month. I used various combinations of birthday, birthdays, parties, kids, children, etc and the words snake(s) and reptiles(s) but I didn't see the local area option. And there is no indication I've had any clicks for the past week. I did clean up the words a little zeroing in more, I think, on better phrases.

I'll let you know how it works this month. And find out more from my Magician friend. (He's hard to reach! Seems to just disappear at times!)

If you have the budget, go for it. Otherwise use blog or discussion groups.

Forex,

I've tried it with success and yes, it really is effective if you know what your doing. You can lose a few hundred in a single day fairly easily if you aren't well informed before you start.

The best first step is to study it.

Much of this has already been mentioned but here it is in a single reply for your convenience.

Plan your campaigns well. Know your target audience. Know why your are driving traffic to your site via PPC. Use relevant phrases.

When you go to use it be certain to choose the proper region or regions. Set up your max CPC, max daily, max monthly, and max budget options.

Monitor and adjust your ads.

Start with a small amount of money and spread it out for an entire month to see how well it does. Observe the traffic numbers, CTR and sales conversion. Don't use it just to drive up your general traffic numbers. Use each phrase for a specific and meaningful outcome.

But don't try it out until you've done extensive reading about Adwords. Put the horse before the cart.

See if you can get organic visitors first. Give your site 3-6 months of indexed time before you spend any money on Adwords. Fine tune your content and affiliate or Adsense pages before you pay for traffic via PPC. See if your organic traffic is resulting in sales conversions.

Obviously, if you are a veteran, you may elect to run PPC campaigns earlier than at three months if you know what you are doing.
