So I'm article/affiliate marketing right now, respectably successfully. Here's my questions. I'm using 3 blogspot blogs, 1 main and two minor. All my articles are pointing to my main blog and one of my minor blogs. My two minor blogs are pointing to my main blog. My main blog is pointing to my articles(should I be doing this)
It's my understanding that 1 way links are better than 2 way links...is this true?
Does it matter that my articles are pointing to my main and minor blogs?
Where can I plug squidoo into this?
I'm converting on organic traffic at like 2-5% depending on which blog and article my traffic is coming from. How can I get these articles ranked higher...?
If I were to create an ARTICLE blog to promote my articles would it hurt to have my ARTICLE blog also promote my main blog?
Do I have to many things going on? DO not have enough?
Am I focusing to much on backlinks right now? And if so what should I be spreading some of my focus on to?
I'm putting out roughly an article and a half a day through ezine and associatedpress. I'm pingomaticing the blogs every time I update.
Am I missing anything?

One way links are definitely better than 2 way links. You can use Squidoo to promote your blogs

One way link are better but it only really matters if the links coming to you are from a good quality and reputable site.
Try to focus on getting only quality link to you rather than tonnes of crappy ones.

I always believe that as long as we can provide some good contents with valuable information that helps other, then your site can get the links very fast.
Furthermore, people usually online because they are looking for information. This is the natural of Internet.
Therefore I always remind myself to focus on contents. Hope this help

If your main blog is your focal point, then the marketing net you are casting is a smart way to attract visitors. The more articles you write and distribute, the bigger your net becomes, and the better results you'll have.

Yes! When it comes to deciding page rank, Google gives higher marks to INCOMING one way links than to reciprocal links. And if those incoming one way links are from URLs unrelated to the destination page, that's even better.

Of course it does! It means that everyone who reads any of your articles can be led back to your main blog directly, or indirectly through one of your minor blogs. Either way, you can potentially drive traffic to your main blog via each of your article sales representatives.

You could use Squidoo as another source of leads and point it to your main blog, or target it to a particular affiliate product. I'm sure Newbie Shield can speak more authoritatively about this than I.

One way to achieve that is to get more incoming one way links to your articles from pages you don't control. Example: Newsletter and ezine publishers can link to your articles from their sites and publications. This will boost the importance of each article, according to Google's criteria, and will eventually reflect in the ranking.

I don't see how it could hurt. You would have another source promoting your main blog.

In my opinion, one can't have too many back links, so I'd say "No" to the first question. However, to the second question, I would certainly diversify the type of promotional tools and branch out into video marketing, social networking, podcasting and other strategies, as an example.

Thank you all for the great feed back. I'm currently working on some videos to get up...the capture software for what I'm doing is pretty good though so I'm excited about getting this up.
You hit on what my theory was at least Hermas, to create a WEB of sorts. As far as I know search engines can't tell who owns what site right? For instance to google a one way back link from my squidoo to my main will not be negatively effected because google doesn't know I author that Lens?
Many of my articles are being picked up by publishers which I like and I am consistently seeing my articles moving up in google rankings for the key words/phrases I was after. My over all goal is to create several free sites and increase their popularity and validity and then to launch my main site and have them ALL link to it.
Well off to write an article and update a blog or two.
One last question that I need some clarification to.
When I said,
"Does it matter that my articles are pointing to my main and minor blogs?"
I meant does it matter in a negative way? Does google frown upon an article pointing to site 1 that points to site 2 when site 2 is also being pointed to site 1?

That has always been at the heart of all my articles and blogs, and should be the driving force and source of creativity when article marketing IMHO.

Hi Open,
Linking strategies can be a bit confusing at first.
Hermas answered well and is correct about Squidoo in this scenario. Others also answered well for the most part.
Link circles or webs are good structures. One way links from a high PR page that has relevant anchor text count the most. Even so, all links are valuable.
Use Squidoo as you would any other page. Just link from it to your TLD or to a relevant page - depends on the situation. Squidoo is more or less an article site with a bit more substance added to a lens (recommended if you want your lenses ranked high within Squidoo and you wish to avoid getting your lens pulled).
A couple tips for you:
While link backs are very important, don't become too obsessed with them. It's best to spend most of your time creating good content.
The idea is to naturally attract links, which is more in line with your own philosophy anyhow. Try to make two or more pages a month that are "blog-worthy" (pages that will attract attention naturally).
While creating a linking strategy is a fundamental requirement, you'll have to work hard at justifying links to your articles. I wouldn't do it very often unless you have an uncommon reason or you've set up something appropriately creative such as an article collection site or something similar.
If you keep linking to and from the same sites over and over, Google will eventually catch on and penalize you. To avoid this, link to other relevant sites even more than you link to your own.
It's okay to use a No Follow when you wish to avoid bleeding PR to sites that aren't your own. Just be sure to mix it up good in regards to where you link to.
It's natural to feel nervous at first with link structures but I think you know what to do now and you'll be fine. No worries.

TY Newbie great help and good advice with linking to sites beyond myself. I dont mind sending traffic and rank to other peoples sites so much Plenty to go around, but I will make an effort to send to NON competitors.
There is a big buzz right now in my niche so i'm capitalizing on beign able to consistently update my 3 blogs with valuable pertinent info. Which really has taken from my ability to get a real solid main site going...hence the main blog as opposed to main SITE.
I was thinking of an article collection site but as i'm burnign the candles on both end right now with updating the blogs and doing "market research" my time is running low.

Wow, that's a lot of questions for one post...
One way links carry more weight in Google than two way links.
It sounds like you would benefit from submitting your articles to as many article directories as possible and have them all point back to your blog. Don't forget about deep linking.

One way backlinks are the way to go.Look for high pr websites that will allow you to link back to your blogs,many site allow you to place your details in the profile section giving immediate linkage.
.edu and fortune 500 forums..also put your details in the signature file.Ezine is the most popular directory in many peoples eyes..always submit to ezine first then simply adjust the title of the article and submit to as many as possible creating an avalanche of backlinks and exposure that will catch the google bots attention

Linking strategies, keyword research and silo-ing is all good and dandy... it'll work to get you traffic...
But remember that traffic alone isn't worth much without having quality content working to compel your target market to go further into your marketing funnel.
At the heart of it, this is still a people business. All the technology and marketing tactics can get us traffic, that's great. But if you're putting out info that nobody cares about, or if it's not compelling and focused, your traffic won't go anywhere.
Another thing too... at the end of the day a quality prospect WILL want to make contact with you via phone or email.
DON'T hide... and don't assume your web site, myspace, youtube and blog will do everything to close your sales...
Be accessible and build relationships... offer value...
That will always be a BIG part of the "secret" of success online.
