It's taking a big chunk out of the old methods.
Video is the most powerful medium online today. If you can learn how to video market, then you will control about 25% of the pie. Online marketing in my opinion is like a hydra which is most likely to have nine heads.
The heads of the marketing hydra are:
1. Video
2. Social Media Marketing
3. Classified Ads
4. Press Releases
5. Forum Postings
6. Online Articles
7. Blogs
8. Offline Advertising
9. Referral Advertising
I would say that about 40% of my prospects come from video and social media marketing. The next highest category would be referrals. If you don't take a look at the video and social mediums I think you are missing out on a ton of highly targeted leads. That's just my 0.02 worth.

Social networking and video is definitely taking over the marketplace. It is gaining way over older trends and is more effective in a lot of ways. It is a way to build your credibility online and brand yourself. You should definitely learn to utilize these kinds of sites to maximize profits in your business.

I want to learn more about social networking. I have heard it can really increase traffic. As far as videos, I have seen it really make our conversion rate go up by adding it to our website.

Make Web 2.0 part of each campaign. Ad video if possible. Both are very helpful. Add the majority of the items from freecashhappens' list and don't neglect optimizing for organic results.

Breanne: Social networking and video is definitely taking over the marketplace.
I totally agree, Breanne! And besides that, social networking is so much fun. Every single day I find new social networking sites, it is a whole new country out there, lol. Or should I say, world. I love to attract people from across the world. Especially since they are just like me and they relate to me. The Law of Attraction really brings me like minded and highly motivated people. If you know how to just tell your story and brand yourself, you will see that so much people will find you and connect with you on a fair bases. They trust you, love you and like you, just for being YOU.
Thanks,

Videos truly are the leading way to advertise and they are very successful. I guess it is better for people to look and listen at the same time.

A video on your site will not increase traffic.
Now if it has not increased your conversion, then you may want to do some testing against other videos with better/different content or perhaps your product just does not lend itself well to video marketing on your sales page.
Video is most powerfully used to drive traffic into your site from video hosting sites, blogs, etc..
For example, Youtube is the 4th most popular (by daily hits) website in the US. So you would be CRAZY not to do what you could to use this social community to get in front of people who may be looking for you or your program/product.
BUT BEWARE: Nobody wants to see videos of you talking about how amazing your stuff is. They want to know about you. I have done enough posts throughout this forum on the subject so I won't beat it up anymore than that. But trust me, just because you see others doing it does not mean they are successful with that totally played out approach.
So, if you are using videos but you are not experiencing any significant increases in traffic or conversion, then something is wrong. Video has proven, in test after test, to improve both.
But what if those videos sit stagnate on youtube or Revver and nobody ever sees them?
Well, the answer is that you need to learn a whole new form of SEO. One that will have your video placed wherever your target market is at.
But you got to be careful here also when learning this stuff. Very few people truly understand it. It's like old school (sorry SEO experts...I just think video plays by it's own rules) SEO in that you have a few people that have done the work. They have done the testing. They know which way is up. The rest are busy just pretending.
I have seen many marketers talk about their excellent Google ranking for their videos...but they use really long tail keywords with no competition and no search traffic. A parrot could get content to the top of some the keywords that I see people bragging about.
I don't see anything that comes anywhere close to video. I could create a brand new blog today and I could have 10,000 hits by the end of the week from unique and targeted visitors using only video to drive the traffic. And making videos cost me ZERO.
Making quality videos is a different story. That has cost me time, energy, research. Not cheap. But the payoff has been pretty amazing.
Great topic. Thank you for starting it bigmoneypro!

Video rules all. Social Marketing is so popular because of the mass amounts of people.

Video marketing is a bit too overused in my opinion. Just about every capture page I see these days have some huge text and then some box container with the video with a guy wearing a shirt and tie and talking about his business.
I may sound like a hypocrite because I "might" join the fray, but really just having seconds thoughts, slabbing a video on your website may "hurt to try".
Maybe I'll consider video marketing, but leaving it on YouTube and not putting it on my website.
I'm impressed with freecashhappens's list.
