GavinStephenson: Is attraction marketing a myth
I think it's just a new name to make marketing appear more attractive - it's still marketing...

No Attraction Marketing is not a myth. It is still marketing but it is just done in a different way than traditional marketing methods. One of the main differences in Attraction Marketing compared to Old School Marketing is that Attraction Marketing teaches you how to brand yourself online and not your business or products. Also you want to more in use value than cash value. It definitely is more effective in my opinion. When I first got into internet marketing I tried many of the old school ways. Like making a list of all the people I know and telling them about the business, the 3-foot rule, posting ads anywhere that would let me, even buying in co-op advertising, as well as going and buying leads. I was unsuccessful with all of these methods. I know there are some people that this works for but not me. After I found my mentor and learned how to use Attraction Marketing to generate targeted traffic was when I started seeing results. Now I know it is more important to build relationships, contribute to communities, and add as much value as I can by helping people and what not. So no it is absolutely not a waste of time. It has only been a blessing for me and I would suggest it to everyone to learn to market this way.

I think you know well enough Gavin that it is not, or at least I hope you know...since you are actively promoting it.
Attraciton marketing is just like any other method of marketing in that if you do it right and focus on it you can get it to work for you. No big secrets just good old fashion work.
I must admit i'm getting a little ...shall we say suspicious with the barage of Q&A sessions between the two of you.
If you have something to add IMHO add it, if not then please don't fish.... or at least be a little more subtle about it.

I believe in and rely on attraction marketing. I use these terms because to me(and only me) I believe when these methods are used a spiritual law is put into motion. That being, if I help someone, that will come back to me some time in some fashion. I am not joking here, and please remember, these are only my beliefs. I would never try to impose them on anyone, because I believe that would return to me as well.
So how does this apply to attraction marketing? Simple, people want to win, and with a marketing system that works they can do so. One of the great things for me about internet marketing is watching people make the transition from frustration to empowerment. And guess what, that good vibe finds its way back in my life and consequently back in my own business.
To me this forum, and all of the helpful posters are examples of that dynamic coming into play.
Thanks all and keep on marketing

Honestly I don't understand your suspicion, but really I just reply where there are things I agree with or that interest me. Because we have Attraction Marketing in common it makes sense to me that we would post and reply in the same types of topics.
I have posted in several other posts as well. Isn't that what the forums are for, to have discussion about things that interest you or you want to know. Believe me when I say that I am not "fishing". I am here to have fun, contribute, and build relationships with people. You are entitled to your opinion, but I just wanted to set the record straight.

Perhaps you are familiar with these sayings:
1. There is nothing new under the sun. 2. A rose by another name is just as sweet.
Attraction marketing is not new, it's simply an updated description of a long established marketing principle that has been getting more attention lately, thanks to social media sites like YouTube, FaceBook and others of that ilk.
It is a natural human instinct to resist sales pressure. People don't like to be SOLD anything, they prefer to BUY. They will buy from those they feel comfortable doing business with.
So a salesperson with an attractive personality, who is out-going, pleasant, sincere and friendly, will tend to do better than one who is not.
But in the online world, attraction marketing is not limited to a warm personality and building relationships, it extends to every aspect of the commercial process.
From your website's appearance, layout, navigation and content presentation, to the product, its benefits, the actual buying process, customer service, follow-up and beyond, the experience should be attractive.
I like to say that a website should be designed so that a person visiting for the first time gets a feeling of deja vu. In other words, the site should be so intuitive that new visitors get the feeling they've been there before.
Any sales and marketing manual written in the last 50 years that's worth its weight, teaches that you should sell yourself first, and the sales will follow.

Attraction marketing is awesome, especially this day and age with youtube, myspace, and various forms of social media roaming the net. If there's ever a better time to ditch the old school ways of marketing this is certainly the time to do so.
It's way more effective, alot more fun and It does work without a doubt in my mind. But that's just "in my mind" lol. Some still perfer old-school methods, and if it works for them I recommend they keep doing it, but for me, attraction marketing is the real deal.
It's viral, and it gets me fantastic results.

Hey guys...great stuff. Gavin, you know good and well that Attraction Marketing works. Your one of the best at it!
Great thread. I do want to put in my 2 cents here for what it's worth.
While I don't suppose anything is totally NEW in marketing...there is a "brand" of attraction marketing taking place that has never been experienced. Like A8ch said, sites like Facebook and others make the entire human interactive experience TRANSPARENT. Moreso than ever before.
If I really want to, I can dig into a person's affililations and find out what kind of person they REALLY are before doing business with them.
Are they givers? Takers? Cons?
It's unpresedented and therefore "NEW". But the point is well taken that nothing is really totally new. It just takes on advanced forms.
And you know what? I LOVE where it's going.
Companies now are INDIVIDUALS!
It's no longer about YOUR GURU....It's about YOU!
Now you and I are on even playing fields with some of todays wealthiest marketers and MLM giants!!!!
Some HATE that fact and try to throw reasons why you should go the traditional route and "follow the guru".
No sir! I will folllow YOU...but your guru isn't on my speed dial...Gavin is!
I want transparency.
Great thread. Great replies. Great people. Great forum. Thanks Vishal!
Peace Danny Arrington I'm Great!
PS...just noticed Mark's awesome sig line about "Chase Your Dreams"....It inspired my new sig line below. Thanks!

With all the forms of marketing I would use a little of all, Social bookmarking, ppc, backlinks, directories, articles, and Press releases. If you work them all if one method is down one will be up.
