Throughout the course of my husband and I doing affiliate programs, drop shipping, etc. etc. we have come to the conclusion that to really make it big online you have to market offline. We have just launched an offline marketing campaign for one of our sites, but my question to you all is: Have any of you marketed offline to get sales online, and if so how and did it work for you???

ummm.... not exactly sure what you mean by marketing offline - I LOVE the fact that I can do all my marketing online! I am a stay at home Mom and the bare thought of trying to market offline or locally makes me turn pale!
Welcome , by the way!

I don't agree that you HAVE to go offline to market online products, but you can always give it a shot and TEST it out to see if it works. Please note that a lot of offline promotional methods will not be very targeted, although if you put your thinking cap on, you can come up with ways to generate targeted traffic offline.

Well just recently we created an ad and will have it placed in different newspapers around the country. I am interested to see if that generates a lot of leads for us...I know their are so many ways to market online, but there are some pretty cool ways to get people to your site offline as well. Has anyone forked out the cash to do post cards or joining a mailing list of any kind?

I would say go to youtube and to a search for "Gary Halbert". Unfortunately, he passed away about a year ago, but he was a genius when it came to marketing. There are quite a few of his videos on youtube, and I believe you can still purchase his materials. He was a strong advocate of offline marketing and felt that you could get more sales from offline marketing than you could online marketing. Definitely interesting stuff!

If you have an online business, it is better to advertise online rather than offline.

Offline is a GOLDMINE. It depends on what you are selling of course, the quality of your copywriting, the appeal of yoru offers.
Online traffic is terribly fickle and most visitors aren't paying much attention to your marketing at all. Going offline changes a lot of things - it forces people to type in your URL to get your offer... so make the offer a good one.
By marketing your website offline you have a great opportunity to get Top-of-mind awareness. Don't squander it.
