Here's a live example. Right now I have TWO articles in the first and second positions on Google's first page. Who knows how long they will stay there, they may be moved by the time you read this. Google works in mysterious ways... Back to the example, if you type Work At Home And Create Online Profits into the search bar you'll see my articles. If you read one and click the link in my author's box you'll come to my Squidoo landing page (EZA doesn't let you link directly to a vendor). Then the link in my landing page brings you to my sales letter. This is an example of "Bum Marketing."

It was number 6 just now when I checked; nevertheless, good job!
Have you had many sales of the product your promoting yet? How long have you had the promotion going?
Just curious as to how long it takes to get that ranking and how much ROI you receive.
Blessings, Angie

Odd, it's still at 1 and 2 from here. As far as ROI goes I've made my money back from buying the rights to the product four times over. I've only been promoting it for a couple of weeks. Beyond the cost of the product I've spent ZERO money on promoting it. I got ranked in 2 days to the first page.

BTW I'm promoting an affiliate product in a niche w/massive competition (weight loss) with article marketing and make about $150/month. One of my articles is #1 in MSN in this niche.

Excellent!
The reason it is probably lower on my search is that I'm in Australia, so Google offers up some local sites/listings first before yours based on my location.
I'm interested in the process.
1. Do you have to write many articles on the same keyword phrase to get the listing or just the one? 2. Do you have to check to make sure someone else hasn't already written a similar type article or not?
I'm wondering if this may be something I should do to get some added traffic to one of my sites that is in a really tough niche. I just feel like everything has probably already been written on the subject.
I was thinking perhaps to write different articles around different phrases all relating to my niche and then submitting them with a link to my site. (Would I link to the related page?)
I know it may seem like silly questions, but in spite of the hundreds of pages I've built on my various sites, I've never actually done 'article marketing.'
Thanks, Angie

Angie,
"1. Do you have to write many articles on the same keyword phrase to get the listing or just the one?"
While I write many it's just one with the keyword phrase.
"2. Do you have to check to make sure someone else hasn't already written a similar type article or not?"
Ezinearticles will let you know if it's already used. Although come to think of it, I don't know if it matters.
"I'm wondering if this may be something I should do to get some added traffic to one of my sites that is in a really tough niche. I just feel like everything has probably already been written on the subject."
Absolutely not! Yours is original content so it's always new. This method will get you on Google's first page most of the time but it doesn't last. That's why I needed to find a more long term solution (hence my product in my sig). But you can absolutely drive traffic to your site this way. If you click my article you'll see how I used keywords.
"I was thinking perhaps to write different articles around different phrases all relating to my niche and then submitting them with a link to my site. (Would I link to the related page?)"
Link to a landing page (you can use a subdomain of your site or Squidoo like I do) then to the product. Your link will be in your author's box. I basically write very similar articles with different keyphrase titles (and keywords within). Does that help?

PS So what I'm doing is piggybacking off Ezinearticle's reputation for ranking. No one knows who Billy Pilgrim (Buddy Tripp) is but Google knows EZA and likes her a LOT!

Thanks Buddy. That does help. I'll have to get around to it. Too much to do, too little time.

I've had both good and bad results with article marketing. If you write a good, informative keyword rich article about a popular target that solves a problem or addresses a popular issue you can get a lot off traffic to the article. If you write a boring article about a boring topic then results will not be so great.
One of my best articles has gotten over 1000 views and has earned me over $100 dollars with a direct link to a Clickbank vendor. Not bad for an hours work!

I do alot of article marketing and will say that it's the best way to generate FREE targeted traffic. When you write articles, you want to use specific keywords because people who are serious about looking at what you have generally type specific keywords into google. It's the tire kickers who type in "work from home" or "work at home businesses", etc. The serious people will type in the specific company they're looking at. All of my articles use very specific keywords, that's key in getting your article in front of your target market. Also, articles are not meant to be a sales pitch.

I have had TREMENDOUS success with article marketing, particulary for my pregnancy site. I LOVE ezinearticles.com. They are by far my favorite article directory because they are very picky about the content (ie it can't be crap!). Anyone have any other suggestions for awesome article directories?

Ezinearticles is my top choice as well, but I must say that I've definitely seen my share of "crap" on there. There are a lot of articles that are too short and are just fluff. Also there are articles with bad grammer and spelling mistakes. Oh well. It just goes to show, however, that if you write some very high quality articles, you can stand out from the crowd. I'm a big advocate of quality over quantity.

Ezinearticles is one of the best. I also use goarticles.com and articlemarketer.com along with a few others. Hope that helps.

There is a lot that goes into a successful article marketing campaign. I currently am on page 1 of Google for over 1500 unique keyword phrases and owe a lot of that success to article marketing.
Today, I used SubmitYourArticle.com to get out thousands of unique articles online every month. Certainly writing the articles is important, but equally as important is how you distribute it and been consistent on doing both.

Anyone have problems with long approval times for ezine articles? I wrote mine almost a week ago and it's still pending review.

My last article submitted to EZine was not approved for nearly a week. Normally I get approval within 3-4 days. Maybe they are just behind. Victoria

I've noticed within the last 2-3 weeks, ezinearticles is taking a bit longer than usual to approve. Like NTC said, maybe they're behind a bit.

I get approved the same day but I have a number of articles. As an up date, the article mentioned is off the first page. Google loves EZA but don't expect them to stay current. But a good long tail keyphrase MAY keep it's ranking much longer in MSN and Yahoo. Right now I have an article in the number 2 spot (out of 1,500,000 in Google that looks like it might have lasting power. It's been 1 and 2 for over two weeks now.

Billy Pilgrim & Happywife comparing notes on the same page...interesting. I've learned some great stuff from both of you.
Billy, I've been writing, and using some ezinearticles to put substance into to my web page. I think the biggest surprise I got recently was when I found out where the traffic was coming from to my website...THIS FORUM!!!
Thanks you guys, maybe some day I will start making some money.
