Hello Everyone,
I have always used forum marketing to drive traffic to my sites. But as you know, you have to be present to make post and drive traffic.
Any ideas on other ways to drive traffic where as I can be absent (vacation) and still get good quality traffic.
I was thinking about google but dont have a clue where to start, I heard you can lose your shirt off you back if you dont know what you are doing.
Thanks for your help.

Write articles, well written keyword focused articles will drive way more traffic to your websites than forums.
And the beauty of articles is that they will float around on the internet for years.
Plus it's free. I love free.
edited to add that a few article directories to submit to are goarticles.com, ideamarketers.com and my very favorite is ezinearticles.com

I agree, articles are the way to go but make sure that you do your homework on your keywords.
I am new to article marketing but I have recently had some good luck with it. Here is what I did.
1. Spent about an hour or two on keyword research for a product that I wanted to market. I looked at Google adwords found a set of long tail keywords directly related to my product.
2. I searched the keywords in Google with "quotes" around them and found that there are only 313 sites on Google for the Keyword set.
3.Wrote an article about my product using the keywords, left a link to my website, and the day my article was published by ezinearticles, I took the #4 position on Google for that keyword set. I suspect as more traffic goes to that article it has the chance to move up in the rankings.
Like I said I'm new to article marketing but I think this is the method behind it. Mountainmom5 said it best: "Plus it's free. I love free."

Hi,
I just thought I'd jump in here with a cool tip about articles. Yes, article marketing is a great way to go but you can take it one step further and use a site called Socialmarker where you can submit your article to a lot of social news and bookmarking sites all at once and get some link juice out of it.
You do have to register with these social sites which takes a little bit of time to do. But once you set it up, you can just enter the information about your article (the url, tags, summary text), choose which social sites you want to submit to and then just click through. I've had a lot of success with it so far.
Hope that helps someone,
Eunice

I have written a few articles but am not sure what "long tail keywords" mean. Please explain as I am new at this. Thanks

As far as I know that means key word PHRASES, but if this is wrong I am sure someone will correct it or confirm it.
There is a whole 'ARTICLE MARKETING 101' write up in the WARRIOR FORUM if you want to check it out. You can google 'warrior forum' (network marketing forum) and look up the article marketing section. This is a goldmine.

You are right - long tailed is simply another way for a keyword phrase - for instance if you want to write about losing weight - you will find the keywords 'weight loss' , losing weight, etc are very hard to compete with but if you can narrow it down to a specific thing and have a longer tailed keyword, like lose flabby belly or how to tighten leg muscles, or perhaps, need to lose 10 pounds quickly....... your article will rank for those specific phrases.
edited to correct grammar - I think my keyboard needs an attitude adjustment - (maybe new batteries would fix that - regardless ..... think I'll go shopping for the rest of the day - lol
