Hi Wayne,
What kind of company did you sign up for? It's hard to give you direction without more specifics. What do you need to accomplish?
If it's a company with products that you want to promote, you need to find a way to get the product in front of people that would be specifically interested in that product.
For instance, I recommend some good quality natural health supplements. So, I built a website that deals with the problems those supplements help to remedy.
When people do a google search looking for a solution to their particular problem using keywords that I've built pages for, they may land on my site and they are more likely to be interested in my product recommendations.
Make sense?
If you give a bit more detail on how far along you are in your learning and what you are aiming for, we can try to help you further.
Blessings, Angie

I recommend you get magnetic sponsoring my mike dillard buddy.. Its the best way to go.. and i think its only 19bucks now..
Hardly going to damage the pocket. a prospect i just spoke to yesterday bought it off me around a month ago and she showed me what she had put in place just from reading the book.
I was totally blown away. There is alot of value there.. Just follow mike dillards stuff and you wont have a problem

Hi Wayne - Angie pretty much hit the nail on the head.
A suggestion on your sig link to make it clickable - you don't have to use html - just put around your link

Hello, I am also new to internet marketing. I am a full time college student and going in debt fast because of it. I am trying to get started with affiliate marketing to supplement my income and pay off my bills before I enter my PhD program in the fall.
I have started with My Online Income System because of its low overhead costs. The free website was the biggest plus for me since i know nothing about building websites. The content on the website is not what I would ideally prefer to market but we have to start somewhere and until i figure out just what i am doing i decided to keep costs down.
If anyone has any advice that they can provide on how to get good income going please let me know. I am currently following the action plan from My Online Income System.

You can do the 30 Day Challenge it's a good program and it's free you can't really lose. I think it's one of the best ones offered including the ones you have to pay for. Sonni

Start with free stuff. Articles and video should be your foundation. Form there incorporate some social network stuff like twitter, facebook and squidoo.
Master the free methods and then outsource them and begin on the paid. banner ads and pay per click.
hope this helps, happy hunting.
email me direct with any further questions, happy to help

hi i also am pretty new to internet marketing. i have found that you really have to work at your business like you would any other business. i think the best thing i did was to first have a weekly plan setting out hour by hour my entire week so i new exactly how much time and when i could work at my business. it is said if you fail to plan your plan will fail so this is a good place to start. good luck

To start marketing start with simple things.
Forums Social Networking (Myspace, Facebook, Orkut) Videos Blogs Classifieds
All of these are free and will bring you a lot of traffic.

Hi Wayne,
My personal suggestion if you are new to marketing is to keep it simple... Online marketing is about branding yourself and building relationships so it would serve you well to utilize the types of free resources that sjames23 pointed out that have some sort of social component to them.
When people search for home business ideas, they aren't inclined to join under the first person's website they come across but will rather do their homework to find a sponsor they can relate to. The more info they can gather about you as a person from social media, the better your chances for success.

Wayne,
The first thing you should do is set some goals and come up with a game plan. You need to list the reasons you began your business and what you hope to accomplish. Once you have the WHY you can then better understand the HOW. I know it may sound a little corny but not having a clear plan and realistic goals can doom any business right from the start.

Very good advice, seeyalater72. That's probably the most overlooked step- heck, I even overlooked it in my reply right above you!
