Hey all!
First of all, I am new to the forum and to be honest I am a little overwhelmed by all the incredible information out there about working from home. I had no idea all this stuff was out there! I am a new mom to a three month old little boy and finances have been getting a bit down around here. My husband used to do quite well in sales but with the economy being the way it is it has taken a toll on his income. I would love to remain in a position where I can stay home and take care of my baby but make a few bucks to help the household.
My mom has recently gotten into an MLM based business that seems promising. They have lots of awesome products and since recently a very cool weight loss program that I've tried out and am very enthusiastic about. I would love some help on how to use the internet to create a down line and to set up a website to sell these products and get credit for them.
I have also looked at products such as Profit Lance and Project Payday-if anyone has information about those that would be much appreciated.
I am sorry if this is a repetitious thread! I looked through some other ones and got lost in so many words that I didn't understand (adsense? blogging for money?)
If anyone could help me come up with kind of a step by step way of setting up a site or a blog to help with the MLM business I would love you forever!

Hi Duchess,
Congratulations on your new baby. How wonderful for you!
I know it is terribly confusing getting started. I was in a whirl trying to figure out and understand all the terminology, what was legitimate, what wasn't, etc. It's a real challenge.
Making money from an online home business takes a lot of time and effort, but if you can commit to that, you can certainly do it.
I'm familiar with miessence. I have a friend here in Australia who is a distributor and I've gotten a few products from her. They are really good quality (actually made here in Australia).
It can be very difficult to market MLM products online, but if you have a good plan of action and work at it, you can build a healthy online business that way in the long term.
The site that you have in your signature is never going to generate free traffic from the search engines because it is a cookie cutter site like all the other miessence reps sites. You need your own unique site that deals with issues that the miessence products relate to.
You can look at my parasites website as an example of what I am talking about. I am with an MLM company (AIM) that sells really good nutritional health products. In order to promote them effectively and get free targeted traffic I built a website around health topics that those products help with - constipation, colon cleansing, parasites, candida, etc.
Because I learned to research what phrases people are using to search for information on those subjects, I was able to build pages around those phrases and Google (and other search engines) lists me in search results for those phrases.
When people come to my site, they are usually there looking for solutions to their problem. I discuss the problem and then recommend the appropriate product as a solution.
I also make money from other related affiliate products, Google Adsense, etc.
That's one of the best ways to build an MLM business in the long run. You don't have to chase down friends, family, and everyone you come in contact with to promote your products. You let the interested people come to you.
There's a free book you can download from my site that's called The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing. It is very helpful for those involved in MLM, particularly if they want to do it online. Help yourself.
As a matter of fact, there's a Free Affiliate Master's Course there too that was the best help to me when I was getting started. It's a very good "free" way to start your online education.
The downside of MLM is that in order to earn your commissions, you usually have to make monthly product purchases which can be expensive in the beginning if money is tight. If you were going to buy the products anyway, then it isn't as much a hardship, but for some people in can be a turn off in business building.
Affiliate marketing is different in that you don't have to make purchases yourself, you just make commissions on your referals.
I hope that helps you some in getting started. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions you think I could help with.
Blessings, Angie

Welcome Duchess1914!
Angie gave you some really great advice - and she is a great mentor when it comes to doing online marketing.
I am also involved in a health and wellness company and you can do both the business developing and market the products online, if you so want to.

Hi, there are thousands of opportunities on line for home based businesses. I have sifted through dozens of network marketing companies, and found very few genuine opportunities.
All I can suggest is to keep at it until you find one that is suitable for your needs. This is what I did, and finally found one, that I was excited about... and decided to run with it. Good Luck:)

Well, i just joined an MLM company that is selling sport strips. It seems like there could be some big rewards, but it will be ALOT of work. Im currently doing it cuz i love the product, and who knows, a few dollars here and there couldnt hurt if someone is interested in it right?
the company is pretty cool becuase you have the option to either just promote the company via MLM, or you can sell the product to people.

I would just be careful about spending money to join programs hoping to make money. Not saying you shouldn't join any programs that cost to get going, just that if you are new to online business, then you will need to learn online marketing strategies that can bring you quality traffic to your website. You don't won't to be too wrapped up monthly fees trying to make it online. Now you will most likely have cost for online marketing tools, such as autoresponder, and maybe web hosting.
Too many newbies to online business fail because of the hype on websites and biz opportunity calls. And what people don't understand is that online success is wholly depending on your marketing, regardless of what program you are involved in.
Les Brown said "It works if you work it." Knowing how to work it is the thing.

I totally agree with you FreeCashMan. So many people get involved with the multi level marketing and internet marketing thinking the it is going to be easy as there mentor made it seem, but the truth of the matter is this stuff takes hard work.
You have to have both money and time to devote to your business. The more money you have to invest in your busines then the less time you will have to spend on developing your business.
No one ever told me that, so I had to learn it the hard way. It was stressful at times, but now I know enough to develop my business properly online.
