How are you posturing yourself on the phone when talking to your propects?

In network marketing a very important part of building your business is prospect phone calling. In todays market with so many business opportunities having that "14 minute movie" that puts your business on "automation" and does all of the "selling and telling" for you, going the extra mile and picking up the phone can give you that edge that helps you sponsor more people easier and faster into your business.

But what do you say on these phone calls? How do you posture yourself?

Are you being the leader and leading the phone call or are you practically begging people to join your opportunity? Before you pick up the phone and basically vomit your opportunity onto another prospect that may or may not be even worthy of your time, here are just a couple of pointers to help you out:

1. Size your prospect up in the first 30 seconds.

How do they answer the phone?
Do they sound excited, optimistic, or do they sound like they've just lost their best friend? If they sound like they'd rather be pulling their nails out than to be talking to you on the phone, go no further with the conversation. Your time is precious, so move on to calling the next prospect.

2. Make sure you stay in control of the conversation AT ALL TIMES.

I can't even express the importance of this point. The person who is asking the questions is the one who is in control of the interview. This person MUST be You!!!

Remember: When doing prospect calls you must be in the mindset of "This is my business and I'm interviewing you for a position with my company so you need to impress me."

I know this sounds harsh to some of you but believe me this helps to weed out the people you want working with and for you. It's much easier to sponsor the "Go Getter and the "True Business Minded" person than to sponsor people who will end up wanting to be spoon fed every step of building their business.

Happy Prospecting!

I absolutely agree. Thanks for the insight. I also make sure that the leads I am using are good quality business opportunity seekers.

This is so true! We have to lose the "warm body," mentality along with the "if it has a pulse," and "three foot" rules. A dear friend of mine from another networking business I was in several years ago says this, "look for people you would WANT to be in business with and talk to THEM."

I look for busy people, successful people, people who have a sense of purpose about them. Those are the people I would want to be in business with because they are the "go getters," the "movers and shakers." They will know a good opportunity to make money when they see it, and they will not be afraid to act on it.
