Something BIG is coming to Wealthy Affiliate in early July - I don't have the exact details, but here is an excerpt from what Carson wrote in the Wealthy Affiliate forum:
"Kyle and I have been secretly working on a brand new system that we will be releasing at Wealthy Affiliate in early July, 2008!
The update is a two-fold system that will lay the groundwork for an explosion in the Wealthy Affiliate community. We've taken the Web 2.0 approach and have created a brand new way to learn and share information. Wealthy Affiliate is going to take on its own personality and evolve as its own entity, created and tweaked by the people who use it! WA is going to be the first fully web 2.0 Internet marketing training program available online, and we're putting a spin on things!
We've created a brand new way to make money online.. You are going to earn you money by just being a part of the Wealthy Affiliate community. The more you participate, the more you make."
Unfortunately, full details will not be released until early to mid July. Carson and Kyle seem to like to keep their members in "suspense", but it sounds like it will be VERY cool!

Hi getagrip,
That really sounds appealing. I'm big on web 2.0. It sounds like they are literally converting the whole thing into an actual web 2.0 platform including ways to monetize within the platform.
If it turns out to be anything like I am picturing it to be, it will be a much bigger draw than it is now.
I'll have to look into it when it goes live.

I've seen the announcement on my dashboard too. It sounds exciting, but they don't really want to ruin the surprise and give out any details. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Looks like I joined at a good time though.

I don't know if they will turn the whole thing into a Web 2.0 platform, but Web 2.0 will obviously be something you can learn how to profit from at Wealthy Affiliate. I think it will be a great addition...Web 2.0 is something I really don't know a whole lot about, and I'm happy I will have the opportunity to learn more about it.

Same here...
I know of a few members who are making big money with it.
Some of the major sites get more traffic than eBay...who has 84 million shoppers!
So, this is definately something all of us should as least think about.

Well...the new system is here. Its called Wealthy Affiliate Gold. In the words of Kyle:
"We have added a currency within Wealthy Affiliate and are essentially creating our own economy. Each month members at Wealthy Affiliate get more "gold" which they can then give to fellow members at WA. If you offer value anywhere within WA, you are going to get gold from others. You can add gold within the forum, WA space, PM's, the Gold homepage, and within the other new system (more on that below).
This gold is then cashable. You can exchange this for REAL USD at the end of every month. We are dumping $10,000's back into Wealthy Affiliate each and every month to run this economy....and like a real economy, you have to spend your gold in order for it to work. Because of this, we made it so that your own gold is not "cashable". You can only cash gold given to you, so we encourage members to give out all of their gold every month.
Members can now earn money right within Wealthy Affiliate....all funded by yours truly, Kyle & Carson! We were told that we were too cheap to begin with and NOW we are throwing some more money into the pot for ALL members of WA. We are going to get told we are "off our rockers" for doing this, but we don't care.
We continually give back to members at WA, when other Internet marketers are continually taking from you."
Its actually a pretty cool system, as it allows you to make money just by making contributions to Wealthy Affiliate - so its kind of a rewards system. Examples on how you can earn WA Gold are by helping others out via the WA forum, or by contributing to the Share Zone, which is also brand new. More on this from Kyle:
"This system is going to explode the content within Wealthy Affiliate. All members here can now create their own tutorials, videos, and upload their own documents right within our Share Zone community.
That is right! Now all members of WA can be active content contributors! Why bother though?
Many members are experts in many areas of the Internet and can now give back themselves. First of all it feels good to help others out, but secondly, this system is also tied into the WA Gold. If you offer value within a tutorial, video or document that you offer within Share Zone, you could earn residual income for a lifetime! How do you like the sounds of this?"
This is actually VERY cool! The WA Share Zone was launched only an hour and a half ago, and here are some examples of what WA members have already contributed:

Woohoo! This seems pretty cool. I'm new there and not that experienced, but I tried making a hosting tutorial that might help newbies. If you get the chance, please check it out and let me know how to improve it.
