Just a question regarding WA
Is this just an internet marketing training site, or can you promote it also as an affiliate and earn commissions?

I am not with Wealthy affiliate but i can tell you that you can promote it as an affiliate and earn commissions.

Hi Kiran,
Wealthy Affiliate is both an internet marketing university where you learn how to earn money with affiliate programs, AND it also has a great affiliate program that you can earn money from as an affiliate. The one catch is that you have to be a member of Wealthy Affiliate to promote it.

After reading your posts, I decided to check out Wealthy Affiliate.
Well to be quite truthful, I have known about it for some time now. I learnt about from Travis.(Bum marketer)
The reason I went to check it out again was to see If I could promote it as an affiliate.
And as Keith correctly indicated, you can only promote it if you are a member.
But I suppose I will eventually join.

New to this forum and the madness of making money online. I have question for whoever thinks they know the answer, and that is, what is the difference between WA and Plug in Profit? Do you not train to do affiliate marketing in both and which do you believe to be the best ?

Hi Sonni,
I think you are right in that Plug In Profits is similar to Wealthy Affiliate in that they both teach affiliate marketing. I definately recommend Wealthy Affiliate, but I have no experience with Plug In Profits, but you can learn more about it here:

Thanks getagrip I read the comments where you sent me. I'd say it's a tough call, I want to learn more about affiliate marketing and am willing to take the time needed. I totally understand you really have to work hard till you get in down then somewhere along the line it gets easier as you work it. I think most drop out or think it's a scam cause they don't make money like hand over fist immediately. That seems to be what I understand so far by just doing research.Would you say this is close to a correct assessment?

Yes - I think you have a pretty good assessment, although affiliate marketing can be pretty tricky to figure out at times, but once you have "cracked the code", so to speak, it does get easier.

Getagrip, I watched your video and that gave me some insight into WA. I have a few questions to which you may have the answers.
I don't really want to write articles with the thought in mind to repeat key adwords. Is is possible to still make good money selling through clickbank or whoever with focus on products? If I'm going to write articles for my blog I don't want to think about keywords. I just want to write what I feel like writing.
Also if I have a website with several products, whether they be tangible or digital is that called a 'mashup'? Then is this still called affiliate marketing? Since I am a newbie I get confused and confuse others in my questions, let me know if I'm way off base.

Its actually best to do your keyword research before you write your article, and it is actually not a bad thing to repeat certain keywords throughout your article as long as you don't over do it. It is also a very good idea to use a long tailed keyword without too much competition in your title, as the search engines will key in on these. So, instead of your titile being "Wealthy Affiliate", you could so something like "Review Of Wealthy Affiliiate". Make sense?
I'm not really sure what a "mashup" is, but when you are creating a website, it is best to focus on a specific niche, and not get too broad. For example, you wouldn't want to do a website about "affiliate marketing" and "how to lose weight", but you could do a website about "affiliate marketing" and "keyword tools" - basically you want there to be a related theme between topics.

Somehow in all this I do know the concept of adwords and the seo thing. I suppose that is the fastest way to get traffic to the site. I don't want to think about keywords in my articles but to just write what I want to write. The other way to get traffic is to build followers like problogger (Darren Rowse) has for example, although I think he uses both methods.
What I want to do is have a blog that I am very focused on, write new articles almost daily with the focus being to help people, interactive but not focused on making money.
And have a website for affiliate marketing with a focus to make money because I have to pay bills but don't want to do a lot of writing for it due to all the time I need for the blog. I don't like the idea of writing just to generate traffic. Of course then how to get people to get to the site is a problem without 'keyword articles'.
I googled' mashup store' and I see that it is a form of affiliate marketing. Thanks for your advice.

Hey Sonni,
At this point, don't worry about Adwords, keywords, and the SEO thing - that will make more sense and will be explained when you start learning more about affiliate marketing later.
What you could do is start a free blog at http://blogger.com - then, as you said, you could just mix different topics together without the focus on making money - just on helping people or whatever else you want to write about.

I don't have a blog yet, but am working on the articles for it. As far as affiliate marketing goes from what I gather a website is better for that and I like the idea of a mashup store like I mentioned earlier. It all takes time and training but I do need to make money somehow and that is the challenge for a new person like myself. I've been thinking about getting Holly Manns's ebook that comes with a website and has a forum. Got to start somewhere.

Just a quick thought:
I used to be a big fan of Holly Mann's Honest Riches, but right now, I think Wealthy Affiliate blows it out of the water. Also, her forum is not up to par with Wealthy Affiliate's either.
Don't get me wrong, Holly ebook is good, in fact, I still promote it from my website, but I just think you would get so much more out of Wealthy Affiliate. It will only cost you an extra $3 to join Wealthy Affiliate for a month, compared to Holly's ebook, which you can probably get through in 2 or 3 hours.
I don't know much about the website that comes with Holly Mann's ebook, but you can put one up very quickly with Site Rubix and you can host it with WA web hosting. I also have co-authored a free ebook on web design which you can download for free - if anyone wants a free copy, just send me a PM and I will give you the download link (I don't think I'm allowed to list it here).

Thanks again for the great advice. The deal is that I'm technically challenged so I thought I would start out with something I can manage. Then after I feel like I'm not in over my head move on to a bigger challenge such as training with WA. I'm sure it all comes natural to techy people but I'm not tech savvy. Writing is natural for me but machines and technology aren't. I kind of like marketing, I had to do a lot of marketing when I was a real estate agent mostly writing ads, marketing properties etc. I was good at it and made good money, but got burned out working 24/7. I think once I learn affiliate marketing I will do well with it. From research I've done I believe WA to be a good place to begin when the time comes.

Honest Riches does have a few helpful step by step tutorials, but you are going to find A LOT more step by step tutorials and information at Wealthy Affiliate.
For example, if writing is your thing, Wealthy Affiliate, not only has a complete tutorial on article marketing, but it shows you how to set up a Squidoo lens step by step, and there are also innovative posts in the Wealthy Affiliate forum that give very good details about how to rank high on Google with a Squidoo lens (to view the thread I'm referring to, WA members reading this can look at "3 Days On Google FrontPage With 30mins of Work + Proof " located in the $500 Challenge section of the forum - there is also a resource called Squidoo Optimization in the Junior Learning Resources section).
By the way, to get your "free website" from Holly, you have to order Hosting through Bluehost, which advertises $6.99 a month for hosting. This isn't a bad price, and Bluehost is a good company, but there is a catch...to get the $6.99 a month plan, you have to pay for 2 YEARS OF HOSTING IN ADVANCE which will cost you $167.76 UP FRONT! Just thought you might want to know that...
Having said this, while I think that Honest Riches is a good resource, I think Wealthy Affiliate is a BETTER resource that has more information, a better forum, and a lot more step by step tutorials.

You are full of great information and I do appreciate that. I did read on other threads where there were people that were overwhelmed as they did the WA program and couldn't seem to understand what is going on. I don't want to be like them that's for sure I say that because I know my limitations and I know this particular type of thing does not come natural to me. The one thing I don't want to do is pay money and not be able to figure out what is going on. I need really basic stuff for I know absolutely nothing as in ZERO, just being honest, about affiliate marketing.
I'm also very careful about anything I begin that costs money. I do believe WA is a good program not a scam, but knowing me as well as I do I think I would be in over my head.

I think Honest Riches is a great ebook with great information, but if you think you are going to be overwhelmed if you join Wealthy Affiliate, just wait until you read Honest Riches. When I joined Wealthy Affiliate over two years ago, it was mainly about Google Adwords - I didn't have access to hardly any of the resources that they have now - at that time you had to dig through the forum to get the answers you needed. Its incredible how many step by step tutorials there are now - how times have changed...

Have you considered Bum Marketing?
If you get on Travis' list, he will send tons of free info which is very helpful, especially in the beginning.
Yes, Travis is a member of Wealthy Affiliate, however you do not need to join WA to become a BUM Marketer.

Oh, that takes me back to when I bought the ajip and as I sat and listened to his videos I understood what he was teaching and he mentioned Travis, I still have a copy of Travis' stuff. He goes through several 'key phrases' not just a keyword and then he bolded it, he " " it, he [ ] it, he ______ it, well it kind of made me think a bit and I remember thinking, I love to write but I don't want to think about a key phrase or keyword while writing that would ruin it for me. I just want to write what I want to write. I know what he was doing was to get traffic = money but it wasn't for me.
I'm still thinking on what to do, looking at options, researching. I believe I will like affiliate marketing for making money but I don't want to spend my writing time on keyword articles. I know there are different ways to do affiliate marketing other than the dreaded keyword articles, to me they would be dreaded.
I hope to have a blog that is geared toward helping people with interactive, inspirational content that's fun. And several websites that are geared toward making money. So I won't have to think about making money on that blog but focus on helping others and writing great content. That's what I hope to go for at this time.

Just a quick thought - you could always write your articles, and then do a little keyword research for the title after you write them. Its not the best way to go about it, but since the title tag is one of the most important factor for SEO purposes, it would give your articles a boost. You could still write for fun, but just be a little more scientific when you are done and ready to submit your articles for Ezines - at least if you are writing to make money online, that is.

I joined wealthy affiliats 2 months ago and I started writing articles based on the rapid writer and their tutorial..it is really great stuff..
I recommend joining.. It ihas verys useful stuff.

Thanks Keith and Dominique I appreciate your advice I know you are speaking from experience. In my research I have found that WA offers a great program for all levels just as you say. I have been working on articles for my up and coming blog and I just got my first article published this month in a print magazine; my first writing goal, to get something published. I'm not new to marketing but I am new to internet marketing. It won't be long before I do something being the workaholic that I am I'll get restless.
