I write for two content production companies right now but would like to find another one or two to supplement my income as I work on my own projects. I like places where I can choose which project to take because I find my writing is of much higher quality if I have an interest already. Does anyone else on this board produce web content like articles or blog posts for payment?

Here are three sources that you may find useful:

oDesk.com
Elance.com
GetaCoder.com

I hope none of these is among the two that you currently use.

This may seem like a silly question, but have you tried Google?

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I don't bother with AssociatedContent all that much anymore although I have written for them before. They really don't pay very well, though. I tried all four of the freelance sites you've mentioned but again, people want quality writing for peanuts there. I never seem to win a bid and I don't want to sell myself short just to make a name for myself. I get paid more from the two private services that I use.

You could set up a sales page and start your own article writing company.

I did that for my son who is a journalism major, about three years ago, and it has turned into a full-time business. There's a tremendous need for website content and blog content and people are willing to pay for writers to do it for them.

Jeff,

That was an excellent idea that you set up for your son. So glad it has blossomed for you guys. I'm always amazed at how clever people are to come up with these ideas. It may seem simple and obvious to some, but the idea would have never occurred to me.

That was generous of you to suggest it.

Blessings,
Angie

I thought about setting up for myself but it seems like it would be harder to schedule myself to get the work done in a reasonable amount of time. I'm not sure how long people would be willing to wait for the content. I may look into this further, though. I just don't want to have to tell people that I'll do it but they have to wait a couple of weeks, you know what I mean?

Plus, honestly, I don't want produce content on demand forever. I'm in the process of building my own sites and just need the funds until they grow to the income level that I need. I would rather create content for my own virtual real estate instead of growing someone else's sites.
