Does anyone know how to go about getting a position as an online chat operator? I am talking about the customer service positions where you answer questions and help people use the website, not the adult chat like I keep pulling up every time I search for it.

I think a lot of these jobs are available directly through companies like Paypal and eBay, but I don't know how many of them have work from home chat programs.

You might want to try contacting paypal or Ebay thru their chat line and ask them if they work at home and see if they give you some input on how you can get a similar job...?
They may not be permitted to give you info - but it's worth a try.

I did ask one through chat and she gave me the info on the jobs. Ebay and pay pal are not home based and most of the offices are in CA. So far I have only found one company that hires online operators to work at home and I have yet to send them a resume. I should say I found several that offer work at home chat but not the kind of customer service I am looking for if you know what I mean.

If you keep getting adult chat stuff in google, try adding "-adult" in your search terms, which will exclude any results containing that word. You can do this with any other word - adding a minus sign to the front of it to help you refine your search a bit.
